Lister Park is a great place to take out your children as there are two play parks, places to feed geese and ducks, boat hire and of course,ICE CREAM!
A lovely victorian park that has been extensively improved and renovated over the last few years. Childrens play area is fairly new and has seperate areas for different ages which is a boon as the older kids tend to play away from the toddlers. Nice boating lake where you can feed the swans and ducks or hire a rowing boat, followed by a visit to the attached cafe serving snacks drinks and ice creams. Museum & art gallery has great events and displays. Well worth a visit in a sunny day.

Having been to school just up the road i would often come down here at dinner time. There is a lot to offer here with a really nice playground for the kids. The lake is a nice spot too to just sit down and take things in. They have tennis courts which I have used on numerous occasions. We also came here with school to visit the artwork at Cartwright Hall and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Generally, it’s quite a well kept park but what I would say is try to avoid going through it when it’s dark. Plus theres literally less to see at night time ;)

A very good park for all the family. For the children there is a very large playground that caters for toddlers right up to older kids. It has a nice cafe by the side of a boating lake which is also home to geese and ducks. The park also boasts an art gallery, a lovely water-feature and a small botanical garden. Perfect for an afternoon out. Parking is not a huge problem and the park rarely seems to be crowded - although in summer the playground does get very busy.

We go to Lister park quite alot, mainly for the amazing playground that looks pretty new. It’s probably one of the biggest playgrounds in the area, alll enclosed, so you don’t ahve to worry about them running into the nearby lake, which is nice.
The lake’s ussually full of ducks and Canada geese and in summer you can hire boats and enjoy a drink on the cafe’s terrace. Loads of long straight paths to ride bikes/rollerskate and some big hills if you fancy a challenge. I imagine it’d be great place to go sledging, just waiting on some snow.

We love this park, it has everything you’d need, good for riding bikes, good swings and playground area, decent sized stroll, fountains to run around, ducks and geese to feed, pedalo’s and boats to hire and Cartwright hall art gallery in the grounds too. It has an excellent cafe for drinks, ice-creams and snacks. The only down side is that the cafe isn’t always open.
