SHOCKING- both food and service.
Family meal ruined by extremely rude staff and next to no meet found in food. Manager had no interest with our problems. Not impressed and will not be returning here. Poor!

This place rates the highest of any indian ive been too!
having been to india, im quite picky with my indian food, but these guys NAIL it. So good!
We dine in, and also use this as our take away aswell!
check out the lunch special from 12-2, its £5 and its beautiful!
also, the guys who work here give such great service, you’d expect to be paying double what you do! its also been redecorated, so it looks much different than the current picture on here.
perfect place for a date as well!!

First time i have used this restaurant as i was influenced by the online reviews my order was for a delivery to home in Heavitree Exeter.I was told there would be a waiting time of 60 to 70 minuets and because the delivery was over 3 miles there was an additional £2.00 charge firstly the total bill came to £33.30 for 1 chicken chaslick 2 chicken tikka balti 2 pilau rice 1 garlic naan
The food turned up after 85 minuets when my address was google maped it came up at 2.6 miles the portions where on the small side more veg than meat but the food was nice overall I think I wont use again

I've been visiting the Ganges on and off for many years now, due to a friend living in close proximity to the place, and I've never had a bad meal or experience. Having sampled several other curry houses in Exeter, this is still probably the one to beat.
There's a good mixture of classics and interesting specials on the menu, and their naan breads are excellent. A recent (sober) stag party was catered for with no problems, while the 11 hungry men all proclaimed themselves full and satisfied with the range of curries. Have slowly been moving upmarket, but not at the expense of the food. Always a good meal and a great evening out, both for large parties or a quiet, quick meal.

We went to the Ganges on a recent Friday night - quite late. Food didnt taste like in a conventional Indian restaurant - and i dont mean that in a good way - we found the quality of the food average. The thing that made us both say we would never return was the abysmal attituse of the staff. They were offish, tried to hurry us up to eat quicker, didnt seem to understand the difference between a pint of Cobra and a pint of Coke, took ages to bring a simple glass of coke despite the staff outnumbering eaters at this point and the expensive bill just rubbed salt in the wound.
There is no way i would ever give them my money again !!!

Remains Exeter's best Indian restaurant by a long way. Also one of Exeter's best restaurants. Excellent food and service.

Recently refirbished premises with funky lighting and nice lavs downstairs.
Food less oily than before refurb, but still very oily masking flavours.
5/10
Easy access park up road

The food and service is consistently very high and the interior pretty different. Surely recommend this place.

It is not cheap as curry houses go, but the food is very good, the restaurant is nicely decorated and the service is always good. You can not go wrong if you are after a decent curry.Still very good value for money.

We have been going to Ganges for years now and I must say we have always received excellent service, friendly, fast, and an all round relaxed dining environment.
The food is always delicious, full of flavour and the meat dishes particularly tender.
The high quality service allows you to dine as a king or a queen for the evening, prompt yet the waiters make themselves scarce but at the same time always available.
I don't know how they do it but over the years we must have been here over 50 times and the same high level of service has been consistantly maintained.
highly recommended.

We went here for valentines day and I have to say we had a superb meal! Considering how busy they were the food was wonderful, really tasty, generous sized portions and good value. We'll definately be going back!

We've used Gandhi for takeaways but decided to try somewhere new. This place has clearly been given a make-over - they should have spent more time worrying about the food, which was awful. I had a dansak, which is a favourite of mine and I know how it should taste - hot, sweet and sour. their version was bland and almost tasteless. When you add small portions and over-priced into the mix and there really is nothing positive to say about it. We won't be back. One word. Avoid.

The Ganges is a fairly small Indian restaurant on Fore St.
Food is generally good, service is always friendly and prices not to steep.
There is nothing special about the Ganges, menu is standard for Indian restaurant, decor is average etc but I have been there several times and have always left happy.
I’d recommend going here if you are just after a 'no frills’ quiet night out.
