La Locanda

Nice authentic Italian restaurant (now Piccolinos) some great authentic Italian food that can be on the pricey side, definitely worthwhile as a treat and more suited to couples than young families although very accommodating to children on early evenings. An overall good dining experience especially nice for a quiet romantic meal, as mood lighting comes on at night and there is a refined atmosphere.

We were expecting a family style pizza and pasta joint witrh lots of noisy children. Instead, we found a lovely, friendly typico ristorante. The Antipasti Misto contained perfectly fried calamari, room temperature torn mozzarella, lovely baby plum tomatoes, and other delicious nibbles properly presented. For our mains we had pastas and risotto, again perfectly prepared sauces, just right portions which left us with big smiles. We had the handsmase truffles for afters, and they were like kisses from heaven. I imagine this place could become quite hectic on the weekend… they have a real pizza oven…. a lovely midweek meal I’ll definitely return if ever I am up here again!

one of my favorite resturants. such a great italian place. i have been here for family meals throughout my childhood. i remember my dad teaching me to eat spaghetti bolognaise properly with a fork and spoon at a very early age! the guy who runs this resturant (cant reember his name!) is such an great guy! so frindly and the prices are actually reasonable for such a glitzy glam resturant! definatly a favorite.

One of my favourite places. I was introduced to it by my parents who’d been there a few times. Now I take my kids, my other half - sometimes we all go. They key to why we go back is its friendly and relaxed feel. Everyone is so nice. My father is in a wheel chair but that doesn’t phase them at all and they are always full of smiles and warm greetings every time we eat there.

The food is classic Italian - lots of pizza, pasta, risotto etc. The place isn’t trying to be world class, it’s more basic but still absolutely delicious. My children are pretty fussy about food and one of them likes risotto, but not quite the way they cook it. So every time they are happy to customise the menu to make her the risotto she loves without any fuss at all! It’s great!

There are always some specials on the menu but we tend to have their really delicious calamari (which are normally the baby squid so even better) to start with and then a pizza 9these are cooked properly and taste highly authentic).

Home made ice creams and desserts always finish things off and we leave with full tummies, big smiles and the promise that we’ll be back soon (and we never break our primises!).
