Some American friends introduced me to this place, so I went there specially to check out their famous home-made burgers and hot chilli sauces. Firstly, I have to say the decor and atmosphere are characterised mainly by the lack of both, but it’s a good old honest pub-style restaurant, and I like it. There’s a nice room for the big sports events and it’s a well-known meeting place for homesick US citizens in Berlin. Both the US owners were around and challenged me to try their uber-hot sauces which were a little warm but not as hot as they think. The burgers came with a heap of fries that could have plugged your arteries by just looking at them. But I was not terribly struck by the meal overall as it was just a little too greasy (or perhaps too “honest”) for me. Overall, I would prefer the burgers at Hamburger Union or Smiths in London. But it’s still a pretty good burger, make no mistake about it, and the meal is so huge you can still feel it rumbling in your stomach the next day.
The best description is that this place does exactly what it says on the tin. Burgers, lots of meat, and fries that can be turned into biofuels if you squeeze the oil out. It’s also a convivial place for drinks and hanging out with friends, and one would be hard-pressed to spend more than 20 Euro for dinner food - in fact, I dare you to! Just don’t forget to book your ambulance beforehand…

By far the best burger i have had in germany. The burgers are filled with Argentinian beef ground on the premises, the chips are handcut, this is pretty uncommon and worth every bite. It is all reasonable in price as the food is outstanding and you will not leave hungry.
The booze does cost but again quality is high, and the varities of spirits (especially tequillas) are on display.
It does get busy so plan in advance, see if you can reserve a table. If you drink at the bar there are often deals too.
Staff are friendly, atmosphere great, music, what do you need. its authentic US and you are sure to meet locals and tourists alike.

A steak and burger place that goes the extra mile to “be authentic” -- paper towel rolls on the table so you can eat the burger with your hand, menu with “sass”, and real dill pickles for the burgers (as well as, in my case, a friendly, efficient American waiter). I had a cheese and bacon burger and it was good. Not knock-your-socks-off great, but good. I questioned the use of an english muffin instead of a hamburger bun and was told that German buns fall apart. Hmm. I still question it. And the bacon wasn’t quite American-style bacon. Given the obvious consideration put into other elements, maybe they could at least consider offering a “premium” bun for 50 cents more that actually IS a bun.
The patty itself was also easily more than inch thick, which may be too much meat for some and makes getting a bite into your mouth awkward. Thickness of the meat is a matter of debate in the States, as well, so no points off for that -- just personal preference. I was told that the house burger comes with two thinner patties, so next time I will see if I can get a single patty alone. And, I will be going back, because it was a darn decent burger and in Berlin, that’s saying something.
The decor is casual, and noisy, but to an American looking for a burger, will feel exactly right. Squint just right and you could be in a good burger joint somewhere on a back road.
