But the proof of the pudding (or Burger) is in the eating.
Well I've previously had this meal In Bournemouth, and very nice it was too, and this was just as good.Nicely cooked meaty slice of Cow, topped with Bacon,Stilton and Shropshire Blue & spring onion sauce, two dips (Relish, Mayo) plus some nice chunky chips and 'real' Onion Rings to accompany it.The only negative was the bun was a bit limp and pretty much fell apart when picked up, it could have done with toasting, but other than that a tasty meal at a bargain price.
Huge Wetherspoons in Camden Town on outskirts of Soho.
Nice and clean with lots of seating and friendly staff. Typical WS fayre at slightly under typical London prices.

This is a cavernous Wetherspoons pub (originally a cinema). It has 2 entrances, the main one in Charing Cross Road, and a rather understated one in Greek Street
There are 2 bars, the main one close to the main entrance has a good range of beers and (not so common in this area) ciders, while the 2nd bar has a slightly smaller selection of the same range.
Decor is fairly cinema themed, especially in the centralw auditorium area, with tv's dotted around and at least 1 big screen / projector setup. Usually they are showing a news channel, but I have seen them showing football sometimes.
Food is std Wetherspoons fare, with the usual themed 'club' nights, and is pretty good (Wetherspoons food does vary dramatically between pubs) and inexpensive.
Overall I'd rate it as a good pub to meet up in as its big with plenty of tables. If you prefer somewhere for a quiet chat then maybe not as the background chatter can be quite loud as it echoes around, but it is bearable.

Not much point going these days now they’ve not got Sky TV. I guess it’s ok for cheap reliable food though.

The Montague Pyke is a Wetherspoons pub which means it is good for reasonable drinks and food. They also offer a good cup of coffee for just over £1 which comes with the tiniest biscuit!
This is an excellent place to come on a saturday or friday night when they have the music up and it’s still free to get in, they also sell a few cocktails for under £10 a pitcher or about £3 a glass.
However, I was unimpressed when I went there to eat as the pasta dish was tiny and was almost £8 and the food took ages even though it was clearly microwaved like most pubs! The other downside is the ladies toilets are up a lot of stairs then more stairs when you get in the toilet area, not a good idea when mixed with alcohol!

The montague pyke on tottenham court road is a lloyds bar (the same chain as weatherspoons) and a very good place to start off for a night out in the centre. It is within a 5 min walking distance of leicester sq!
At one time, 5 years ago to be precise, it was £1.99 for a double vodka and red bull, and thanks to Weatherspoons, I was able to save money at university. The more I drank, the more I saved… if that makes sense!!!
For example, to this day, weatherspoons offers a number of deals:
The Monday club offers a number of drinks on special promotion, Tue night is steak night (around £5-6 with a drink included) and my personal favorite is CURRY NIGHT on Thu (£5.30 max per person). These prices are very reasonable and although it is not gourmet cuisine, it is cheap and cheerful and I do enjoy the opportunity to catch up with my buddies!
