New York and Empire State Building – kind of go together right? Seriously, NY is a great tourist spot IMO, bustling, active, great NY accents all around. Grubby, posh – you’ve got it all. The Empire State Building visit was busy but nice to have done the walk nevertheless.
(Caveat: people who detest typical tourist spots may not like it that much!)
When the name is showing glory how can one deny to visit the land mark of Americans. Just simply saying visit yourself and watch the glory with your own eyes.

A must tourist attraction. Views over the city is amazing. The history of the building is really interesting too. Get there early to reduce the queing time.
One of the most famous global landmarks there is, the ESB is a must for first timers to NYC. I've been up it at various times of the day but you can't beat the views at night. Seeing the city lit up beneath you is something you'll never forget.

Truly amazing and just as breathtaking as it looks on tv. The view is immense at night and day so try visiting it twice on your trip to the big apple.
Although no longer the tallest building in the world, it is still one impressive structure which is proven as you go in the lift to the top - the lifts are express type but it still seems forever riding to the top. The vista from the viewing platform surrounding the top are really spectacular with the whole of Manhattan island and beyond clearly visible. A must see in new York.

I knew it was an icon of NYC and was a very tall building but I had no idea how beautiful the interior was - the black marble art deco lobby really makes a statement as you enter. The view is a good as you would expect and better.
queues are manic, the airport security is WAY over the top!!! the extra charge for the obs deck is a con so dont bother..........but as soon as those lift doors open at the top floor and opposite you is a window and all you see is that view all of the above is forgotten..simply amazing!!! and it only gets better Enjoy this one folks and if you see a queue endure it,
Amust for anyone going to New York
I LOVED THE VIEW! How great!
Okay, the lines are long and the security check is a little bit annoying, but be honest, you'll get a faboulous view over New York in return.
Best thing is to try to be up there at about 5.00 pm before it gets dark. Than you have the chance to see the view at day and at night.
It has a lot of tourists and you might have to wait a couple of hours. But it's worth it!!

No one beats the view!
We arrived there at about 1 o'clock at noon.. no queue, we didn't have to wait at all although the weather was beautiful and the sun was shining. Also the security check was done quickly. The view is gorgeous but in fact you all know it from TV, it's not that special like I imagined it. But in fact: it's a must do for everyone!
A must-see for every tourist!

One of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen...'nuff said :-)
Why do I always seem to go to tall landmark monuments in the winter time?
Unbelievable windy and cold up there but the view as you'd expect is absolutely fantastic - well would you take anything less from the once tallest building in the world?

Crackin' view from NYC's tallest. Been up a couple of times. Both at night. Very impressive.
better to see it in person than on king kong films
I once went up to the top of the Empire State Building with the worst hangover I've ever had in my life - and I will tell this for nowt, in terms of a hangover cure, it really cannot be beaten. OK, so you will have to queue for about an hour or so to get into the lift which takes you up to the viewing platform, but once you're up there, the view will truly blow your mind. I went up there on a grey November day, and spent a good two hours soaking up the history of the building and its sights, sounds and smells.
What I would recommend if you decide to go is to fork out the ten dollars or so for the audio tour. It's narrated by some two-bit actor with a terrible Bronx accent, but it is worth it, as he tells you which parts of the viewing platform to stand on to get the best views of all the five boroughs. Without it, I would never have been able to pinpoint the Brooklyn Bridge or Strawberry Fields - and it was a great way to spend an hour and get a real feel for the history of New York and this truly amazing building.
Watch out for the photographer on the way down though - he will take your picture when you least expect it, usually when you're in pain and gurning like you've just invented it. He'll try and charge you the earth for a photograph where you look like you've been posessed, so just say NO! (Unless you photograph unusually well of course, you lucky lucky person!)
