Probably the best Thai you’ll get outside Thailand and without bankrupting yourself. Personable staff, particularly the owner, great menu and ingredients, and fantastic wine list. Also seems a nice place to hang out for a drink or a game of pool.
After a long day at the War Museum we would have settled for anything - certainly didn't expect to find this little gem! The outside is very unassuming. In fact we very nearly walked straight past! Glad we ventured in though. 2 courses, 2 pints and a bottle of wine for under £40!!!! Beautiful food - freshly cooked - and subtle. Friendly staff and manager. A great end to a busy day!!!
WOULD VERY VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Please visit if you're in the area

Excellent standard Thai nosh at a reasonable price, in what is unfortunately a bit of a student hangout, complete with horrible 90's decor. Standout dish is the seafood special, but the best thing about this place is the enormously friendly landlord. Great for nights when you're not up for cooking and fancy a relaxing meal in friendly surroundings.
Fun, friendly, relaxed, sometimes frenetic, almost eclectic – Lye Torng is unusual, yes. Not just a bar or simply a restaurant, but somehow a melding of both. It is a great meeting place for friends who can enjoy the genuine Thai food (prepared by the same Thai chef since they opened 9 rears ago), excellent range of wines and beers.
Lye Torng Restaurant&bar offers reasonnable priced food in an unusual and original atmosphere. Food is very fresh, well-served. Good selection of white and red wines. I defenitly recommend this place; probably the only place in Elephant and Castle where you can chill-out, relax and appreciate good Thai food. I went to elephant and Castle only to visit this recommended place and I was not dissapointed at all. Thanks Lye Torng!
The only place in the Elephant & Castle that the feint hearted can comfortably go. Relaxing and friendly place to drink or eat.
awsome food, great decor , service was spot on leaving enough time between courses, and they didnt rush me of the table. its hard to find a good trusted THAI restaurant that you can go back to time after time but this is definately the one would recomend it to anybody you will not be dissapointed,
5 stars for me
Good, reasonably priced food for both eatin and takeaway, and an extensive drinks menu. The staff are friendly when they’re not busy and the manager is normally knocking around and willing to chat if you engage him.
There are occasionally some less savoury types who come in after a bit football match, but generally all is chilled out and the free wifi is a definate plus!
Cool, bo-ho decor and friendly staff add to the feeling that you have just reached the paradise within Hell’s Kitchen, AKA, the Elephant. The foods really nice here and so well worth a visit if you ever find yourself in the area.
