Superb Clam pasta the best ever in south London. Lobster also gorgeous. Dessert was just as good. Beautiful food. Could not fault the place. Good friendly service. Begrudgingly sharing this info as I don’t want them to be fully booked the next time I want to go!.

Went to this bar after being promised the night before that the rugby would be put on if we booked and ordered food and drink. At 1/2 time the barman turned over to the football when a larger group turned up. The £15 antipasto seemed to be straight from a sainsburys salami selection pack, the steak ciabatta was small and served cold, it was to our mind rather expensive at £8. If you are not a local expect to be treated rather shabbily, I would not recommend this bar.

If you are looking for a traditional and authentic Italian restaurant then look no further. Situated on the busy Northcote Road, Vito's is a welcome respite to the hustle and bustle outside. As you walk in, you will be welcomed by Vito, the owner, who takes great pride in giving a very personal service to all his customers. 2008 marks our 10 year anniversary and so you will find the restaurant is usually full of regulars who come back again and again.

Our dishes are simple with the food speaking for itself. Popular dishes include rack of lamb braised in the oven with garlic, rosemary & white wine, pan-fried scallops with garlic, chilli, white wine & parsley, spaghetti with diced fillet of beef, mushrooms, chilli, tomato sauce & red wine and a range of classic antipasti, pizzas and salads. As well as an extensive a la carte menu and a large selection of wines, we also have daily specials and several 3-course set menus, ranging from £15-£30.

A couple of years ago, we extended the premises with a bar next door. Situated on two small floors, it is not very big, however that helps to create a cosy and intimate environment, in contrast with the more open and lively restaurant next door. We serve nibbles and cocktails as well as a range of good old-fashioned Italian and English beers.

Events that are popular with our current customers are regular wine-tasting evenings which we can notify you of by email and our Sunday lunch "all you can eat" buffet which for an amazing £14.50 you get a selection of Italian starters, a full carvery main course with a choice of roast lamb, turkey, pork and beef with all the trimmings, as well as a choice of desserts.

Both the restaurant and bar can be hired out (together or seperately) free of charge. We cater for parties up to 100 people and specific set menus/canapes/buffets can be arranged on request to suit your needs. In fact, Vito himself will work closely with you to make sure any event you host at Vito's is a success.

Review of Vito's from 19 November 2008

We love it! It is our 'local’ and the food is always delicious either for lunch or dinner.

The owner, Vito, has made a great success of this pretty restaurant - lots of Italian kissing goes on on arrival (even more on departure after a wonderful meal and good wine).
The menu is large and varied, emphasis is on Italian cooking and there are always 'Specials’ available.

There are linen tablecloths and napkins, it is all very 'civilised’ and the service is quick and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble and it is a great place to take children although my grandson always manages to escape from the high chair. At one stage a waiter tucked him under his arm and continued with his duties!

Sunday lunch, a buffet, is excellent value with a delicious choice of starters and very nice roasts - turkey, beef, lamb AND pork. Have a slice of each although mint sauce is a bit odd with beef!

In Summer you can eat outside on the pavement and the restaurant has huge french doors which open up; there is a light conservatory and Vito also has a bar next door with a huge TV.

Although at the 'wrong’ end of Northcote Road, it is well worth the walk to enjoy a good meal in a relaxing atmosphere.
