Dramatics over!
We ordered our drinks and they turned up pretty quickly and then we placed our order for food, we ordered between us - Paella, Olives, Calamari, Patatas Bravas, Chorizo and Gambas Gabardina.
The food arrived hot and together and was really tasty, the Patatas Bravas seemed a lot different to how I've had it in the past, more saucy and less crunch in the potatoes.
The staff that served us were both very polite at apologised for the wait that we had in getting the bill (5 minutes), can't fault them as they were dealing with a table of 20 people so it was to be expected - second time that I've eaten at this La Tasca and both times I have enjoyed it and will probably end up going again next time I fancy tapas and happen to be in Norwich.

S'okay I suppose. A big chainy restaurant/bar in a lovely area of town - a stones throw (literally, you should see the windows) from my hotel.
Prices aren't too bad. Staff aren't too bad. No toothless locals. The expected flat-screen with sub titles.
This place won't win any awards but, likewise, enemies either.

Lovely restaurant, with a good atmosphere. Staff helpful. Food was excellent. Yet again used Taste Card So got 50% of food. Set in a nice location. If you like Tapas, it will be right up your street. We went during day so was quiet. Probably be more of an atmosphere at night.

If you've got plenty of free time on your hands, and you're not hungry, then this is the place for you.
Pros: Gorgeous Sangria, Cons: Expensive, salty, poor quality food. Get sat upstairs and you will be forgotten.
My wife and I went there Saturday night just gone. Our starters came quickly, but my wife's starter was raw and both were covered in a heavy layer of rock salt. We ordered the paella, understood that there would be a 45 minute wait, but waited an hour and a half.
When I called the waiter over he asked if we wanted to order a desert or coffee! A classic moment, and fortunately I had consumed a jug of gorgeous sangria so I found it funny.
Eventually he brought over the paella which had clearly been sitting under lights and had formed a hard skin on the top. Reminded me very much of a tray of stuffing. I paid for my drinks only and got a pizza on the way home.
Two hours of my life I will never get back :) Don't sit upstairs, it's the kiss of death and you will go home hungry and poor.

This branch of the popular Spanish food restaurant is set in a grand house on Tombland.
There’s a large outdoor area to dine on a summers day slightly shaded by trees and set on stones.
Inside is very large with lots of space and two levels.
The service was good when I went for a friend’s birthday. They tend to do a lot of promotions so it’s worth checking The Daily Telegraph for vouchers such as 50% off. You can also book on their website for a table and get different offers.
The Paella was a bit bland and don’t order it for too many people as they just make one huge version that stands on an upturned bin on the table top and is way too much food.
The prawns in Pil Pil sauce were a great choice.

A quality tapas bar chain situated in Tombland, within easy walking distance from Norwich city centre. The food here is predominately traditional tapas dishes, with a few paella options as well, so it is not a good place to go if you’re not a fan of Spanish food.
The food is well cooked, good quality and very tasty, although some dishes are slightly overpriced considering the amount you need to order for tapas to substitute a main evening meal. The sangria is also very good, potent and well priced by the pitcher.
The place itself is warm and atmospheric, decorated with traditional Spanish colours to create the ambience of a traditional Spanish pub or bar. La Tasca also do Salsa and Flamenco evenings on certain nights of the month.
