went there new years eve, very apprehensive after reading the reviews but had had the arrangements made for me,so bit my lip and in i went.Though only knowing 2 other people there found the place to be friendly with a great atmosphere, and just as importantly to my wife;very clean.Whilst ordering yet another beer from the polite yet friendly barstaff,i asked how they managed such rubbish reviews. The reply that the new company had only taken over the beginning of the month explained the difference, with the new owner coming over to our table and outlining all her new ideas and menu to come.
Whilst i fancy a few evenings there my wife seems to think it will make a great mid/end shopping trip stop off.would reccomend

Ok for a quick drink if passing. Not cheap, not friendly or welcoming- probably best to go somewhere else.

My friend and I (two females in our 20s) had the misfortune of visiting to this bar one evening. We were the only girls in the bar, and the middle-aged manager continually stared at us in an unnerving way which made us feel uncomfortable then he came over an started to try it on with us tuching me which i did not like . Eventually, after refusing to go upstairs with him , he threw us out and became extremely aggressive in front of his embarrassed patrons. A place to avoid trust me

Recently visited Foster's bar for the second of an informal annual sixth form sports dinner held there. Despite the food being preordered, we were asked to order again twice and pay up front individually. The table had been booked for half past 7 and the first meals arrived at least an hour late. The meals were brought out a couple at a time with half an hour in between before the next were brought out, and this continued until all 26 meals were served. When the meals came they were of sloppy presentation, different sized portions and not complete as the menu described them (i.e lasagne with no garlic bread that was never produced when asked for). Only after much fuss did the poor waitress explain that the cooker had broken and that we could have a couple of measly portions of free onion rings to tide us over untill all the meals arrived. No appearance at the table from the manager whatsoever, and when asking for explanation, 18 year old students were patronised and ignored by the bar manager. The restaurant cannot produce quality food on time for a large party despite being prebooked, and even taking into consideration the faulty cooker, the management's handling of the situation was completely inadequate. An outright refusal for refund, refusal for free drinks or puddings and a claim that the kitchen was then closed when pudding orders were requested! The manager then simply walked away and served another customer rather than dealing with the situation. Completely underqualified manager, disgusting customer service, overpriced and mediocre food and a thoroughly ruined evening.

Went there for a meal with 30 friends, we pre-ordered only to be told when we arrived that the order had not been recieved even though we had had confirmation that it had. We were then forced to order from a different menu, with less choice and a higher price. The food was an hour and a half late, and when it did arrive, came incomplete and with 20 minute gaps in between the meals brought. We were only offered 2 half filled bowls of cold onion rings as compensation for what was a ruined night and a totally unpleasant experience. When we asked the manager if we were going to be re-imbursed at all or if there was anything he could do for us, he was patronising, unhelpful and rude and would only offer refunds to those who hadn't yet recieved their meals, despite everyone elses experience having been ruined. Would recommend that you steer clear, the staff clearly weren't interested in making our eating experience in any way comfortable or pleasant and left us feeling very downtrodden.

This place is awful! And I don't just mean from a customer point of view either! I was briefly employed by the aforementioned manager and while I was there, he was abusive, obnoxious and and totally rude to me! He belittled me and made me feel as though I could not do anything right. As well as this there are more things to add, but I feel it is not appropriate to mention them on here.
This man has no idea how to treat staff, customers, or indeed how to manage a bar! I thoroughly recommend that you stay away from this bar!

Despite the bad reviews, me and a couple of friends went to this bar the other day, customer service was outstanding, the staff were really friendly polite and helpful, the food was absolutely out of this world, and we didn't have to wait long for it either!
It's in an excellent location, I can't wait for the summer to properly arrive so I can go down to Fosters again and sit out by the river whilst sipping a nice cold pint!
One of the best bars in Gloucester!!!

i am new to the docks so i thought i would check out this place!! walked in i seriously thought this place was closed. the majority of the lights were off and no one in there at all apart from two people looking cosy on the sofas! by the looks of it i must of interupted something as the girl (with the biggest eyelashes ever) sighed as i walked in...she was the barmaid!!! ordered a drink, which was overly priced and sat down. as i sat down the bar maid went and sat back on the sofa and continued sipping wine with her gentleman friend (who i found out later on that he is the manager!) the menu is written on a a4 piece of paper and doesnt look appealing at all. if i were u i would avoid this place as the staff only which to occupy themselves and dont like customers in there!!!

Me and my wife (happily married) went to fosters bar on the docks last saturday night. We had something off there basic menu then stayed for drinks in the bar afterwards. The staff where friendly but the manager of the place tried to seduce my wife while i was sat by her?? If this wasn't enough i was aproached by a northern man, who must of been a regular; he trying to sell me a rolex watch and a handbag and lip gloss set? This was all in all not an enjoyable experience.

Dreadful food, suposedly a sunday roast, more like school dinners. Bad service. Dirty glasses. Cold veg, no gravy, no Yorkshire pudding despite being told it was included, cheap cut of meat, roast potatoes were cooked from frozen not fresh. All in all not an experience to repeat.

Great place to eat drink and socialise and even better when you have the view of Gloucester Docks lit up to the side of building. Must try it….one of the most friendly pubs/bars in Gloucester.
Food is very good, portions size good and service good. Prices wee bit steep, but wont complain.
