2 reviews of Restaurant Gabriele im Adlon Palais in English
This is another Kempinski place, over-priced, but not overly enticing.
Ambience is quite nice but the seating was rather odd with huge crescent seating which is cosy for 2 (fat) people but not so conducive for 3 or 4 persons. Service was pleasant but rather unctious and some phrases rather repetitive.
Food was rather disappointing for a place that claims to have a Michelin star. Overall, I have found that Michelin stars do not mean that much any more and this is a prime example.
I might come again, but only if someone else is buying. Else I personally won't bother.
I'm not sure if this is the restaurant at the front of the Adlon, but I think it is. If not, let me know and I'll move my review to the correct venue! If so, it's extremely overpriced and fairly average cuisine that awaits you. My rillette de canard on a bit of toast was reasonable for a starter, but at 19€ you'd struggle to recommend it! The salmon and pasta that followed was under-sauced, over-cooked and just very very bland. That was probably about 30€. The menu is full of really ridiculous dishes, like Kobe beef and caviar for about 150€. Ho hum. Still, the location is excellent! And if you want to work for free in the lobby, you can. Just remember not to order 4 cups of tea, cause that will be 45€.
bbd It's actually next to the back entrance to the Adlon, on the other side of Unter Den Linden, in Behrenstrasse. But you described it about right - overpriced and not terribly satisfying.
