Antonia's

I had a good quick pasta meal here back in June 2011 for under a tenner. Food was tasty, but wished that you got a little more for your money with the ‘extra ingredients’ (eg. capers …)

However, today (27th July 2011) there were ‘No Entry’ signs up at all the shop windows from a bailiffs stating that there was some legal process under way.

So, has Antonia’s now closed down ?

My mum arrived in Hammersmith at lunch time, having spent an extra four hours travelling due to a delayed plane, and was understandably hungry. Which offered me a perfect opportunity. Having lived here for nearly two years, I've walked past Antonia's very, very often. And almost every time I do, I think about going in and giving it a try, but never do. So this time, it was a perfect solution.

And I'm very glad i did visit! The food was delicious, fresh, health and vibrant. I had a butternut squash, feta cheese and pine nut salad - a very simple plate, but something I would never have done on my own, and which was delicious. My mum had an equally tasty tortilla, and we shared some bread. Not a hefty meal for either of us, by any means, but as I'm not fond of heavy lunches, this was perfect. The prices were pretty decent too - and would be even more so with a taste london card!

The only thing preventing me from giving it a full five stars was one slightly un-smiling waitress. Mostly, the service was fantastic, but the waitress who served us our food and was at the till when we paid didn't really make eye contact and barely cracked a smile the whole time we were there. Which was a shame really. But I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she was just having a bad day - I'm definitely still going to go back sometime anyway!

Antonia's really is a rare find. Very fresh, tasty food, service with a charming, personal touch and a warm and welcoming ambience - I simply can't believe such a place comes at such good value too. And the pizzas... Hmmhmm! By far the best option in the centre of Hammersmith, I will be returning again and again!

I love Antonia’s! I went again last night, had goat’s cheese bruschetta, which was the best I’ve had in a long time! Mouthwatering and not too heavy, with delicious onion relish and rocket! One of their fresh pasta dishes to follow, which was light, but satisfying, rounded off with 2 glasses of Viognier, dry (but not too much) and crisp with a lovely fruity taste, which was just right. Fab! Great service, friendly staff, a must for anyone who likes great food!!

Antonia’s is an absolutely lovely cafe, serving delicious, reasonably priced and unpretentious food! The service is genuinely friendly and warm and the cafe has a lovely atmosphere. I would highly recommend this to everyone! My friend and I stumbled across it one night, looking for a light, quick dinner before going to salsa and were really struck by the owner’s warm, welcoming manner. We will be going back as everything on the menu looks absolutely divine!

This place is a real gem for Hammersmith. Healthy, good value food, where asking for tap water is not a sin. Lovely service, fresh ingredients, relaxed atmosphere. Free wifi to while away the day (good value coffee), fast service for a quick lunch (nicer than a meal deal from boots) and licensed if you need a post work refreshment or early dinner. Definitely go here. Soon to have a taste London deal apparently - that will be a steal.
