So Japanese

Yummy yummy food. Miso black cod starter was brilliantly done. Fried oyster starter melted in my mouth. We went and had their tasting menu on offer midweek, and for that it was an excellent value. (though with lots of sake and soju, we ended up spending a goodly amount). The the contemporary Japanese food is excellently done. Service was good, and the setting was very chic (although a bit dark). We were seated downstairs. Upstairs it is brighter, but not quite as nice IMHO. This is the best Japanese food I have had in London so far. I had the venison, which was probably a mistake. It was very good, but paled in comparison to their seafood offerings (which I will stick to next time).

Really good place! Can have proper dishes or sushi. We opted for a couple of courses and everything was really tasty. Smoked duck to start was very finely sliced and absolutely delicious, as was the babay octupus and tomato salad. Mixed grilled seafood was plump and perfectly cooked - and the scallops in particular were excellent. The foie gras was apparently delicious (although I hate it myself!) and apparently the miso was also very good, although it was the first time I’d had it and thought it was disgusting! Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Would definitely come back.
