TK Maxx

i always come in tk maxx when i pass one but rarely buy anything as i find their system very jumbled & confusing

I don't quite get the hype about TK Maxx.

Upsides: it's large, and the selection is vast! Yes, there are some bargains to be had, but only if you know your brands and can tell which really are bargains and which aren't.

Downsides: see above - not everything is good value, and prices are still steep compared to what you would call "budget" clothes shops. Although of course the quality is generally better.

Generally: I think calling TK Maxx a budget shop is misleading. It's marked-down brands, but can't compete on price. This shop is good for quality classics you'll wear often (or homewares you will use for a long time), but if you're after one-season wear then you're not getting a bargain here.

I was pleasantly surprised when I visited TK Maxx as the selection of clothes on offer was vast and had exactly what I was looking for.
There was a great line of special offers and some real bargains to be had.
The layout of the store was quite spacious which made for easy browsing, even though the store was busy.

A few years ago you wouldn’t have seen me dead in this place. However, I have to grudgingly admit that the range of clothing and household goods are staggering and the prices even more so.

Be prepared to battle with every chav that Reading possesses as you wade through all the clothing chucked on the floor. And be prepared to queue for a very long time at the check-out.

All said and done though, you will get some serious bargains here.

TK MAXX is the place to go if you want designer clothes at a faction of the retail price. clothes sold in TK Maxx are generally from last seasons and not the latest seasons’.

However, you can get some really good bargains, particularly during the TK Maxx sale. I managed to get a really nice pair of Levis jeans at £15, which is a steal in my opinion.

the disadvantage is that some clothes are only available in certain sizes and it can be annoying of you spot something you like in all sizes bar your size. The other thing is that TK Maxx have recently started charging for their plastic bags, so it may be a good idea to bring your own bags.

If you like jumble sales have the patience of a saint and can cope with a staff team that are all like a character from little britain this is the place to go

Pros TK Maxx is located near Reading’s town centre, and is a fairly large store. The shop stocks quite a large range of items, from womens and menswear to some homewares. Items are grouped by type and then by size, and occasionally there are some really good bargains to be had.

Cons The shop is decorated in a bargain basement style, which I personally find a bit offputting. It can be difficult to find items you like, and prices can vary wildly- you don’t have any clue what the price tag will be until you look! The shop also gets really busy on Saturdays with bargain hunters, which makes your own bargain hunting a little difficult.
There aren’t many sales assistants, and the few there are tend to be really busy, so I found it difficult to get any help when I was there.

A chain store of designer and clothing bargains, for both clothes and accessories and housewares. Located not far from the main run of shops on the main street of Reading. Good place to find bargains but you have to rummage. Usually kept well organised into sizes during non-busy times. Can get very busy though, and when it is, it can get messy and looking a bit like a jumble sale.

great store if you have a few hours to browse through everything.
you can always find good quality clothes and home accessories. You just need to have patience.
2 years ago they built a downstairs part so it’s a good sized store.
I recommend the childrens area for good products at good prices - such as cot matresses, buggies, sterilisers.

This is a huge outlet of the popular TK Maxx stores, offering everything from bags and makeup to skiwear, homewear and clothes. You can find some fantastic bargains, but you do have to persevere and sift through loads before you find them- I think you need the patience of a saint! One thing to look out for is the discounted food- often from European stores, pannetones, german biscuits etc can often be well discounted and good for gifts!

Great for a bargain, but you need to be really patient in order to sift through the rubbish….

Great place to hunt out a bargian - top designer goods at cheap prices.
Not just clothers but handbags and accessories and reading branch has a good homeware selection with great value bedding.
The store can get busy and sometimes there are too many clothes on a rail making it difficult to see what there actually is but worth having a look.
