potatoe latke was draped in cheese it was like a rosti then a golbaki then a pankcake filled iwth mushroom and stroganoff sauce decent chips good plain salad size sauces came in sachets a pet hate of mine
rice was very fluffy drinks 2 wine spritzers and a lager £22.50 very good value timings were ok i suppose if people stay away from the chain pubs that are killing the centres places like this may have a chance would have like to try the cabbage wrapped with beef and vegetables which sounded very savoury next time may be grand thatre to watch strictly was brill cmon people of wolv centre
Afer reading positive reviews my partner and myself visited this bar….first impressions at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon was that the bar was quiet but well presented with minimal decor. The bar staff were attentive and polite..then i ordered food and it went downhill from there. To put it bluntly the food was a disgrace i ordered the home made battered cod and chips and my partner ordered the the steak pie. I am not exaggerating when i state that the fish came out and was approx 6mm thick with the skin still attached with a rubber coating that was passed of as a batter and then there was the chips or should i say the frozen chips that were uncooked and rock hard. My partners pie was i can only guess at a quarter of a £1 budget pie that was roughly the size of a baked beans tin in triangle form with the same uncooked chips as i had received.
The total cost of the food was £9 which isnt expensive but what we received i wouldnt have payed a penny ..im sorry i didnt go there expecting michellin star food but edible would have been nice,,,,,

After hearing good things about the City Bar, I ended up very disappointed at the experience I had. After being there for over 2 hours we had to give up on desert as there didn't appear any hope that it would turn up within a reasonable time. The delays could not be put down to the place being busy as there were only a few tables in use.
While the starters were fine, the main meals came out in dribs and drabs and some had to be sent back as it was stone cold. Despite them serving vegan dishes they were not sure which meals were vegan and which contained meat when served.
Overall very disappointed and would not make an effort to return.

City Bar is a bit dated inside but the food is nice, freshly prepared and a good combination of tradition fare and European food (a lot of Polish). They cater for vegetarian vegan, dairy free and gluten free diets as a matter of course. They’ll try and cater for any other variation you need and are always happy to alter a dish to suit a special diet.
The only place in Wolverhampton with a decent range of vegan and gluten free puddings - such a treat to be able to order a pudding in a restaurant that isn’t just fruit salad. They always have vegan ice cream, cream and custard available.
Still haven’t worked out how they manage to make vegan gluten free pancakes though!

what a great little find the city bar is. located just off dudley street in the heart of the city centre, quality service, great food, relaxed environment, tastefully decorated, excellent value for money.
