Rubbish - the service was the worst we've ever had - 20 mins wait until order was taken, further 15 mins then got toast - 15 mins later still no coffee, table next to us drinks but no food - whats going on? left without drinks arriving.
left in disgust.
1 star given as nice inside.

Very slow service, dont bother going.
The food is enjoyable, well presented and has decent portions. However it is not somewhere my husband and I would go back to again. It was all really influenced by the amount of time we spent there only having coffee and a sandwich! The amount of time we had to wait for everything was unbelievable. We waited and waited for a menu, waiting to place an order, waited a lengthy time for food to arrive, waited for the bill, waited for a waitress to take payment for the bill, waiting for change. It took two hours in total, for 2 coffees and a sandwich and wafffles! Every time we got up to go and order or pay at the counter we were instructed to sit down and the waitress will come over. Why? It adds pressure on the waitresses and on the customers like me. I wasnt in a hurry by any means but was not impressed with 2 hours for something as uncomplicated as coffee,a sandwich and waffles They need more waiting staff or need to have menus already on the table and customers order at the counter. Much quicker .

When we went there for the first time, right after their re-opening in September, we thought they were pretty good. The service was friendly, the menu reasonably priced, nicely presented and above all very tasty.
Since then, however, things seem to have gone downhill. We have visited them about five times since and each time they made mistakes of getting order wrong(i.e. Bringing ham sandwich to our Muslim friend when we ordered beef sandwich) or charged us wrong. Last time I ordered Posh Breakfast salad which is described as coming with artisan bread in the menu, only to find out the "artisan bread" was just normal bog-standard white bread you get from supermarket, and they were burnt black. Also the salad did not have all the ingredients that were described in the menu and I had to point that out to the waitress. The quality of service is not consistent, sometimes very friendly, other times no smile or any pleasantry.
Also we noticed there was one lad that worked in the counter dealing with cutting ham etc. who did not have any gloves on. I would have thought the way he was also dealing with money at the register, they would be more careful with hygiene.
Overall, we are quite disappointed.

Probably best deli we know in town. Not cheap but tasty. Small cafe inside with sofa and tables
Local and international foody goodies. Chees and butchers counters

Stewart & Co is a staple of Jesmond life really. The goods carried are fantastic mix of well known branded classics and more obscure but equally delicious items. From luxury goods to healthy treats it caters well for us vegetarian types . Young family friendly too.My favourite bit is the organic and world beers section which is great for us casual drunks out there as it beats another Newcastle brown ale…
Only mild (-very minor-) criticisms are
1] Occasionally the staff are a little ditzy and forget to tally up orders correctly
2] {And this is strictly a lifestyle choice one} Im fine with people eating meat and the butcher section but the photo posters dissecting the cow, pig and lamb are a bit much especially with kids about.
