Wohlerspark

This park is for barbeques and lying around. It’s not really a park for football or cricket games (it’s too small). Wohlerspark is definitely my favourite park in the area.

Although it’s super-close to the Schanze and St Pauli it’s officially in Altona. One other oddity is that it’s actually a graveyard.

The guy cycling his espresso cart around is always there, and yes he always seems stoned - too much caffeine?

I didn't like Hamburg at first; didn't even like the sight of it. The city seemed like a cold, uninviting place with nasty weather, lots of red brick and grumpy natives. Walking through the areas of town considered by one such northerner to be worthy, I stumbled across Wohlerspark, and I was smitten immediately.
There's nothing grandiose about the park; it's not big, has neither the grandeur of Planten un Blomen nor the size of the Stadtpark, lacks both lake and river frontage, and yet there's something sublime about this spot.
An excellent place to start the day, or end an evening.
