My favourite pub in town, i actually like the quiet atmosphere, very good selection of drinks and friendly staff, i do recommend

Cheap place to eat and drink! Day time people are getting drunk here so not my first choice!! Evening not much atmosphere with no music! Great for drinking and chatting at the start of the night but again not somewhere I go on a regular occasion

If you want to spend a day/night in a pub full of chavs, alcoholics and the local inbreds alike then this is definately the place to go to.

Yes it has really cheap drinks, but it just isnt somewhere you would want to spend the whole night or have a quick drink in during an afternoon shopping drink (unless you are one of the above people).

If you want cheap drinks but a better pub I would definately advise Lloyds as its still part of wetherspoons but the atmosphere, location and decor is a lot nicer!!

Cheap food and drinks

The Moon on the square is a nice pub which is situated next to Chicagos night club and close to the other pubs in town. It is a good pub to start the night off in as the drinks are cheap and they often have good promotions on drinks too. There are plenty of seating areas too. Also it is a good pub to pop into for a drink in the day time if you are shopping in town as it has a relaxed daytime atmosphere.

They don’t have music in this pub so it is not one to go in if you want to have a dance, but it does get busy so there is a good atmosphere.

They do food which is the normal type of pub food such as lasagne, fish or burgers although I have never eaten here.

It is a pub which is suitable for all age groups and I would recommend a visit.

The Moon on the Square is situated right on the market square in teh centre of Northampton and in many ways is a typical Weatherspoons restaurant with the food that it serves and the drinks that are available.

There is one main difference though, this bar has no music being played on any night and has been a non-smoking pub long before the smoking ban, so it has always been a pleasant place to go and have a quiet meal with the good quality food that you’d expect.

Just in case you think that you’d get bored of the company you keep when you go out for a meal, there’s a decent range of fruit and game machines in the bar too, which seem to be on some kind of rotation and they’re always changing what machines are there.

In summary, this is a great pub to go to for a meal or to use as a meeting place for a night out, but isn’t usually the most lively of places later in the evening.

Like any town centre based Wetherspoon pub, offering food & drink at such low prices attracts a certain number of undesirable characters.
Fortunately, this one is split over two levels with most of the power drinkers congregating around the bar area on the lower level.
Good value food & drink. Comfortable environment (away from the bar).
Located in the heart of the town centre in the market square, next to the very large Chicago Rock Cafe.
Very popular in the evening also with people taking advantage of the cheaper drinks before moving on to other 'more expensive’ destinations
