New management is a joke especially the guy with a bandana who is never there and leaves his incompetent wife to do the job badly…not that he would make much of a better job…rumour has it he is to leave and move on…god help the local area he moves to…absolutely joke of a person who spends his time entertaining drug dealers and local chavs….

The idiots who actually think this place is good i would love to meet personally and have a chat. As I am sitting here my week old baby is woken up by their loud sound systems and WE cannot sleep until the drunken and drug fuelled muppets go home...
police are all but useless and personally would throw a street party to celebrate if the place got wiped off the map....there is one thing to go out and have a good time but quite another to ruin other peoples lives with all this.....scum the lot of them.
What a change! The pub now attracts all ages and range of clients and is becoming one of the better pubs in Selly Park. They have a Wednesday poker night. Friday and Saturday nights still consist mainly of kids with pocket money but generally not too moody. Vast improvement to the smoking area which now has a television and is sometimes more busy than the pub itself. The only downside now is the price of drinks (expensive enough already for the area) which increases when entertainment is provided.
My previous review is as below...............
Recently refurbished and changed hands in the last month (Oct 2008), this used to be a watering hole that lost it's way. With the new management, the food has improved, more fun evenings and getting back to being a safe drinkers pub. couple of pool tables, live bands (rock tribute) both in the lounge and the function rooms. The number of people is increasing steadily. Still good drinks, food menu basic but enjoyable and plenty of offer evenings (reduced prices and food specials).
Would not have recommended this place six months ago, is likely to become one of the most popular establishments in the area providing they don't begin to attract the dregs in the area. :-)
Worth ringing to check functions but is an anytime drinking hole.

I agree, the place went really downhill with the above in charge, HOWEVER, once again there is a new team in place AND once again it’s starting to pick up. Still nowhere near as good as when Pip was in charge but who knows…..
Recently under new management and refurbished i visited for the Casino gig (formerly known as spidersimpson) a few months ago. Was suprised that a pub in this area had such a good band on, and as i run past each week i think how id much rather be inside enjoying a good beer. Nice place, great for live music especially at such cheap rates.

nice place ? Did you go in under a blindfold on a dark night? You clearly are one of the management and NOT one of the local residents…if you can call a nice place where punters smoke spliffs outside where children go to school you are either stupid or one of the chavs….sort your life out and respect the local community not your selfish interests…

WOW, just read both of your comments, both of which are full of inaccurate information.
Firstly, the guy in the bandana is history.
The prevalence of drug dealers and their ilk is practically non-existent.
There has always been drug misuse in the area because of the demographic profile, it is not specifically related to this pub (indeed others in the area are of more concern).
The thing that annoys me about negative reviewers is that they rant without forethought to their issues.
When you considered moving to your property, you knew there was a pub nearby and yet you still chose to do so. The Fiddle and Bone in town was closed because a new resident in the area objected to their music and let’s face it, the demise of many a pub is down to people like you.
You have undoubtedly been into the pub BUT OBVIOUSLY not recently because you would know about the change in Management which took place at least 2 MONTHS prior to your review!
I have been drinking in this pub for over 30 years and it used to be one of the focal points in the area however, with the incessant increase in properties to let, the community has and is, suffering from the influx of small minded, self-centred residents who care not for the local amenities.
As for the comment about your week old baby, congratulations on your new arrival, pop down the pub sometime and I’ll buy you a drink.
