We visited this Marston's pub for dinner after a 16km hike around Kinder Scout in the Peak District. I ordered a burger with fries and despite the enormous pang of hunger after our hikes, I was unable to finish the generous portion of food on my plate (although we did share a plate of cheesy nachos first!).

The waitress / bar staff was very quick and efficient, whizzing around behind the bar and around the tables and delivering food, cutleries, condiments, and glasses with the utmost haste. They were upbeat and friendly.

The food and drinks weren't terribly expensive. Too bad the burger wasn't great - too salty (despite a whole day of hiking!) and rubbery. I would come back for a drinks and snacks though - maybe order a different plate of food!

Agree with other reviews, obviously popular with local clientèle and not just visitors to Buxton, always a good sign.

Lunch was well presented, tasty and reasonably priced - excellent.

Managed to grab a window seat, which was obviously sought after, the other tables a little darker inside the room.

A traditionally themed pub but looks fresh and modern at the same time (what does that mean? dunno, just hope you get the drift).

Kings head is located within the market square in Buxton. The pub is usually quite busy, there is a friendly atmosphere and they also sell food (although i haven’t eaten there). They also have a pool table.
