Headrow Blood Centre

I've had very good experiences at this unit donating platelets. Well organized with little waiting.
 It is a very tangible way of contributing.

A BIG + : They bullied me, against GPs advice, to see a cardiologist who diagnosed a substantial heart problem.

I am indebted to the staff here!

I donated yesterday and as it was my first time I had a few mild nerves beforehand.

I needn’t have worried. Whilst the process itself was easy and comfortable, the real stand-out positive was the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. The four employees i came into contact with were all a credit to their profession, and the atmosphere amongst them all was befitting of somewhere that is ultimately working towards something good.

Because of this, I’ll be back in 4 months, with as many friends as i can convince to come along.

Hi I moved to Leeds in December 2007 & registered with Headrow Blood Centre to continue my blood doning. After do my 25 donations I transfered over to the Plasma side. All the staff are excellent peole, friendly & very professional, they make you feel comfortable & nothing is too much trouble for them. It’s been a joy to go every 2 weeks & because i have double jointed elbows the staff often have a laugh with me about it (they find it hard to catch my veins, as they move)

I went to give blood here for the first time in October 08. The staff were very friendly and talked me through everything that was going to happen. I was very nervous before i went but i need not have been. I was in and out in less than an hour so if you work in the city centre its great to be able to give blood on you lunch. The best bit is after you have given blood you get to sit in the refreshments area where you can have a hot or cold drink and some biscuits, cakes or crisps. Do something good today, give blood (At the headrow blood centre)!

Staff are very friendly and professional. They do a minor screening before you give blood. Mine picked up anemia so I was given a letter to take to my doctors for iron tablets.

I waited for a friend who could give blood, they were very efficient with the needle and caused as little discomfort as possible. For anyone scared to go don’t be overcome the fear with their help, you just might save lives.

I’ve never given blood anywhere else but i’ve always found my visits here to be pleasent. Staff are great and put you at easy. They quickly go through all the health questions with you and the donation process itself doesn’t take too long but allow yourself plently of time for you visit as you don’t know how you’ll feel afterwards. Yummy tea and buscuits afterwards too. If you can give blood please do it really does help people and you’ll get a good feeling too from helping

No idea why people would go to these mobile blood donation places when they can visit a warm and modern donation centre in town. Far better than being in some church hall and i’m sure the refreshments are better.

I can’t fault this Donor Centre - the staff are exceptionally professional and do their very best to put donors at ease. I tend to come after work as they’re open til 6.30, apart from Fridays when they shut early. It gets pretty busy early evening though, so the waiting time can be up to 45 minutes, but if that’s the case there’ll be plenty of notices up to let you know so you can decide to come back another time if you need to.

I especially like having a cup of hot blackcurrant squash and a penguin biscuit after. And getting a 'Be Nice To Me I Gave Blood Today’ sticker from the lady at reception. It makes me feel special : )
