Review of Catherines Patisserie from 22 October 2008

A lovely small village bakery that has managed to stay in business despite the rise of the generic coffee houses. Here you can buy lush fresh cakes and bread to take home, or sit down and have a cup of tea with beans on toast etc and listen to the gossip from the eighty year olds sat next to you. This is one of the few shops in Portishead that has remained the same since I was a child, it even has one of those massive old fashioned tills. If you like time travel, visit this place, but do so before it becomes another pound shop or even worse.
