The Wellgate Shopping Centre

hi there my name is roxanne ferguson,
   i was banned years ago when i had alot of problems i have been clean now for 2 and a half years. i have changed my life in so many ways, i am now 3 and a half month pregnant and would love to be able to use your centre. so i can buy things for my child and me i have writtten to the overgate and they've excepted my request.
So if possible can you consider my request ??  to enter back into your centre please

Ah the Wellgate, it really has gone down recently. They need to give it a makeover, get some new and better shops in. It can be full of “NEDS” though, bit off putting but that’s Dundee in general. See if i can list the shops in it off by hand, here goes:

Overall still a good shopping centre, just needs a makeover.

One of two shopping centres in Dundee and unfortunately the Wellgate is run down and limited compared to its competitor. The shops are more low market and the atmosphere is dull and dreary compared to the Overgate. There is a library, however, which is useful and some shops are good for bargains.

Quite rundown, seems to be suffering from the Overgate? Come here for the library but its a bit depressing, especially now that Woolies has closed down too.
A shame, would be good if some new stores came in

An old style centre that has been redone a little. Still not as high class as the overgate but definitely not as pretentious. More real then the overgate, I feel more likely to buy from this one. The lay out is annoying having to go from end to end to get up the escalators which is worse when you are rushing to get a bus at the top! But it does mean a good browsing lay out. Sometimes in the past it has been a bit odd when some shops are having their transitional periods as it all seems a bit derelict.

Tired old shopping centre but part of Dundee history so I do hold it affectionately. Only a few good shops - BHS, Woolworths, New Look. Has an attempt at a food court but really a very poor relation of the Overgate Center - Wellgate Clock is a historical thing and the kids love it

The Wellgate is one of the older shopping centres in Dundee. I find, personally, that there is not that great a variety of shops for me. I tend to only visit Zavvi and occassionally New Look but it always seems to be busy so that’s a bonus.

The advantage the Wellgate has over the Overgate is the food court. Whilst not The Best Food Court In The World, it’s still something the Overgate doesn’t have. It means if you and your party all fancy something different it’s easier to manage. There’s also a bigger choice than in the Overgate.

When it comes to shopping of any sort one of my favourite places to do it is the Wellgate centre in Dundee. When it comes to Christmas shopping the Wellgate is a must.

The enclosed and very pleasant atmosphere in the Wellgate makes your day a real pleasure and with shops such as the Officers cllub, HMV, Argos, T.J.Hughes, Woolworths and Mothercare it has some of the biggest and best names in high street shopping all in the one place.

There is also a McDonalds if you are feeling peckish and at christmas there is also always a brilliant santas grotto for the kids.

All year round the Welgate has something unique to offer the kids in the shape of a giant nursery rhyme clock, which has loads of famous nursery ryhme characters on it that all move and interact with one and other when the clock chimes on the hour every hour.

A great days shopping in Dundee and a place I highly recommend.
