Does exactly what it says on the tin. Pizza. Quickly. It’s really nice in there, especially if you are taking a leisurely afternoon wandering around gunwharf and decide to have a pizza (or salad) with a few beers looking out over the harbor. The pizzas were a bit on the large side for me, but a bit small for the other half. Between us though, we yummed it up. A bit classier than your standard pizza delivery joint.
This pizza restaurant is set in a good location on Gunwharfs water front, and another point that gets it an extra thumbs up is that the Pizza Express chain participate in the Tesco clubcard rewards scheme so by trading in your club card points you get 4x the value to spend on your food! The prices here are reasonable, but if you are used to eating at other “takeaway” pizza restaurants you may find them a bit more expensive and the pizzas are a different style too. That said you can’t go far wrong with the pizzas here and there are plenty of options for all tastes. I’ve found service good to average, but never disappointing, drinks are nothing special and I haven’t tried their deserts so can’t comment.
Pizza Express must never be confused with Pizza Hut! It is a quality Pizza place with Salads and Pasta as well. It is well priced for what it is and is very nice food that the whole family really will enjoy. So when you want fast food and Mum and Dad complain take them here because it is nice and they will like it too. Staff are polite and decor is cool!
Went for the 2-4-1 offer and I think that might have counted against our quality - we were cheapskates, but we did leave a tip (service was fast - but pizzas…). We got a cheap margerita bog standard and ironically this was much nicer than the franchise specific 'terry forno’ specials, which basically was a nice base with tomato paste and pama ham, olives, rocket and mozzerella balls balanced on top. Literally balanced, they fell off if you tried to do anything with the pizza (like eat it). The cheaper one was better, but if you cant do your specials well what are you even doin them for?
Great restaurant, great staff, great food.
Staff have the ability to take down orders properly, something im finding rare when ordering pizza these days! Polite and attentive, but not overbearingly…I’d recommened this place to anyone.
Service is considerably fast for the amount of people usually in, and all food and drinks are well priced.
Good standard chain restaurant. The pizzas are all the standard flavours with some unusual toppings. Portions are reasonable but prices are abit high for what you are getting.
The nicest and most well priced thing on the menu is the dessert hat is figs in honey with mascarpone cream served with a coffee for around £3.95. Great - a dessert and drink in one!
Great restaurant from the pizza chain. It delivers the same quality food every time i visit. The pizza are the nicest out of all the pizza shops. They are thin based and you can choose from an exotic range of toppings. they are freshly baked are served steaming hot. There are other dishes if you are not in the mood for pizza such as superb pasta and salads. The location is brilliant, set on the waterfront. There are tables out in summer so that you can sit in the sun and look over the water. Great setting great food. reasonable prices.
This Italian restaurant is located in a very busy place with lots of nice shops so it is supposed to be a perfect place to have your meal and rest after doing shopping.
It is a nice place to have meal with your children or invite people to celebrate your birthday. This restaurant is very busy in the afternoon at the weekends. But it is very peaceful and quiet in the evening. The décor is nice.
Their food is perfect. They offer traditional recipes. There is a great choice of different pizzas.Their pasta is tasty as well.
The waiters and waitresses are very friendly.Their service is perfect.
Espousing the philosophy of great pizza at affordable rates, Pizza Express is a real gem of an establishment.
Not long ago, before the Euro, a person could take a trip to Naples and buy a pizza for 1500 lire (equivalent to 50p).
Those days are long gone now, but places like Pizza Express do an admirable job of providing masses of consumers with finely topped pizzas, respectfully and unpretentiously year in year out (Pizza Express have also diversified their portfolio and now offer pizzas on supermarket shelves for people inclined to living room dining instead).
This particular branch provided outside seating and on a sunny, though slightly windy, day overlooking Portsmouth harbour, the pizza tasted that little bit better.
Washed down with a bottle of sparkling mineral water, Italian-style.
Reminded me of those trips to Naples all those years ago…
Modern decor, friendly service and traditional recipes updated to include a more contemporary appeal with new styles accompany older versions of the pizza.
A place where everyone can indulge in their own preference.
