Consistently get talked down to by the optometrist. When I ask questions I'm treated as if I'm being impertinent. Last year they mixed up my records with another customer. I had to insist that the manager go and physically inspect my paper records to convince him that his computer record was incorrect, just so I could be supplied with the correct lenses.
I would expect this kind of service from a cheap second rate shop. When you go to 20-20 you expect a superior service because they're in the West End and they make exorbitant claims about themselves ...and you pay through the nose. Don't be fooled, it's all designed to boost their own image.

The sales people incorrectly stated the Zeiss lens they supply are a superior quality than their competition (eg: spec savers and boots) can offer. I contacted Zeiss and they stated there was only one standard of their 1.9 high index lens. Three days after I visited the store I contacted them to request they cancel my order - instead they repeatedly stated they were looking into it, and then said it was too late to cancel the order because the lens was in store (which I did not believe to be the case because my special order lens always takes 3 weeks). They also said they would beat the internet price on the frames but after checking on the internet realised they had charged me some £80 more. I had also entered into the interest free payment method - do not do this because it is difficult to get out of.
The store misrepresented the quality of the products to justify the higher prices. Later they stated the higher prices also included aftercare sales.
When costing the glass and frames the sales assistant stated the cost was over £800 but with discount etc they could do the glasses for £650. I had to barter to £625... reminds me of Hong Kong's Nathan Road. I can get the exact glass and frames for £400...need I say more?

The service was way better than what it says here; yes there were a lot of foreign staff but they all spoke good English and used professional terms. I got an eye test and got my prescription right away. I wasn't sure which brand of contact lenses to buy so they gave me several samples to bring home before I made up my mind. I just went to the store again and bought a few boxes. It was a really good deal compare to other chain stores, service included.
It's not the cheapest out there but service and atmosphere made the whole experience worth the price.

One of the first things you will notice about this store is the huge burly security guard that looks like he is using steroids!,the second thing you will notice is that their prices are insanely expensive. Then you will notice that it looks like a weird looking bazzar, with clothes and various items also for sale.
Most of the staff cannot speak English well and they are very very young and most like 99.8 % are Asian,I just found this odd, some walking about with glasses on with no prescription inside at all.
Yes,they do have some of the latest and best testing gear on the market, like the opto-map(although this is an older model)for scanning your retina and an Optical Coherence Tomography gizmo that" allows them to see beneath the surface of the back of your eye (the retina),but at £75 a pop I don’t think so.Having great equipment is only as good as those that can really be experienced and trained enough to interpret those results.
Having an eye test with the latest technology is great BUT not when its overpriced and the ones doing the testing look like they don’t really know what they are doing. If you want to complain, I’m sure the burly security guard will listen as he escorts you out of the door!,while they pocket your £75!…

Hi
God..after reading all these reviews i thought i did a mistake after buying my glasses last saturday..but what a surprise! My colleagues recommended this store as it is close to our work.
The eye test was complete and they check the health of my eyes also.
I got £10 off also so was quite happy.
The selection of frames is impressive. I could not choose even with the help of the optician so i called my mum to come help me. They nicely reserved the frames for me until the end of the day!
I bought a nice pair of Gucci. I got 50% off on the cost of the frame. I compare the cost of the lenses comparing with my previous optician and the difference was £20. I paid in total £185. They were ready in 1h so i guess the service were included or they have better quality lenses i don’t know..
Well, i have been seen by 1 optometist , 1 optician who help to choose my frame and lenses and 1 specialist to adjust them for me. All very nice and lovely.
So i think it is quite unfair for this store when i read all these people above.
It is a designer optical store with big brand as Chanel, Dior..so you do pay the price for the service . So i guess if you want cheap glasses and low service you should not come there..
I recommend this store definitely! Also it is an independent store not a big chain so i guess they treat their staff better. It will explain the good service i had.
Well hope it will help!

I bought a pair of glasses for £500. For the first time in my 17years of glasses-wearing life, I cannot focus or see properly when I wear their glasses.
My vision is blur. My eyes unable to focus on object, feeling sick shortly after wearing them. I cannot believe a shop calls themselves an optician create and sell such product!
When I contacted the shop, they simply told me that it takes time for my eyes to get used to new specks. But, I never had such experience before, and know for the fact that by the time my eye "get used to" their lens, my eye sight be deteriorated. And, no. They do not offer any refund. My £500 gone down the drain.
PLEASE, PLEASE! DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP!

I agree with Alice above. I experienced very poor standard of eye exam .
Nothing was explained and the staff were rude and obnoxious and all focus was on selling overpriced deals on glasses and contact lenses .
I was left short a £50 refund after immediately cancelling a glasses order when I discovered they misjudged my prescription .
Avoid them at all costs .A very commercial enterprise .

I went to the 20-20 Optical Store recently for an eye exam. Having been to Boots previously, I was pleasantly surprised by how much time the Optician spent with me. They also checked my eye health with new technology which examines the retina.
The sales people were helpful without being pushy, and I was very impressed with the range of frames available. As a fashion conscious twenty-something I'd looked elsewhere on the high street but not found anything I liked. I chose a Dior frame which I love, and as there was a promotion on at the time, I got a really good deal.
I would recommend this opticians to anybody, definitely best eye test and selection of frames I've experienced. I sent my Mum along too and she also had a good experience.

The worst service I have every had in an opticians. The whole experience is about trying to extract more money from the client. The staff are rude and treat customers as if they are doing them a favour.
I went in to buy glasses but was so shocked by the service I received that I walked away before ordering them...and I advise you to do the same. Avoid this place at all costs!

I was a customer with this opticians and discovered after many years(and costing me a lot)that their prices were high and their service was very very poor.
The prices are extortionate and they have really badly trained staff that cannot even speak or understand English well.
The place has gone downhill and now looks like some bad Moroccan market,
with some clothes for sale and a run down coffee shop.
The place was good many years ago but frankly now its a mess.
After sales service is a joke and if you get your money back you are very lucky!.All the people employed here seem to be foreigners or foreign students with little grasp of English,no doubt because they can employ them cheaply.
I used to pay £700 for my specs, now I get the same quality and quicker service in specsavers and if they mess me about,I have the specs free!or very cheap with a big discount for my stress!,but forget that with 20/20.
very very poor quality opticians...avoid them at all costs.

I have been wearing glasses for 15 years, so I know what service I should expect- this was not good enough.
I had a similar situation to Stephen, where they did not give me my prescription and later almost refused to give me a full one.
Apart from that, the reception and first tests staff were very nice, however after having all the tests in a very nice room, I was not even explained what the tests were for and if everything was fine. Instead, after asking the questions to the person doing the final tests, I got vague and very patronising answers, not really what I was looking for from their "premium" service.
I felt that although I had paid for an eye test, they were only interested in further sales to me -once I told them that I didn't want to buy new frames or contact lenses straight away, the optometrist just ignored me.

Pretty standard opticians, as far as I could see. Good kit, but ultimately came up with a virtual identical prescription to my low-tech previous optician, 3 years previously.
Environment very pleasant, somewhat production-line approach to eye testing with at least 3 separate specialists involved.
I was not impressed by their reluctance to give me my prescription, or their reaction to my deciding to decline their offer of getting a 'free' eye test if I chose a frame immediately.
Fairly large range of frames, but all very expensive. I used the prescription (together with a PD measure which I had to do myself) to order from glassesdirect at a price which was approx one fifth of what I would have paid in-store.

Good opticians that I can recommend. I had a diagnostic from a good optometrists. I managed to arrange an appointment only 2 days after my first call. I choose my glasses here and the staff was very helpful, available, and advice me.
This was my first glasses and I can tell you that find the good one is not a easy thing. Finally, I found it here. The other advantage is their special offer: If you buy your glasses the same day of your eyes test, you don't have to pay for the diagnostic.

To be honest I curse the day I got into this shop to buy a pair of glasses. No specifications of lenses were given, no price tags or price reference for lenses, shop assistant just remembers to say "oh they're around £90". Paid a premium price for average quality product that you can find for half the price on reputable sellers on the internet or any other high street optician.
Extremely unprofessional and I would say that almost rude. At the moment I am trying through a dispute to get £300 back from a pair of glasses I paid for almost a month ago and although I tried to cancel the order straight away after realising I was being cheated and ripped off (they claim they sell high quality products but they don’t sell better quality than specsavers or boots opticians) and I was refused a refund even though the glasses were not made. After all this time not even a phone call from this company to try and solve this problem even though they have my £300 and I have no glasses.
Overall you can get the exact same product for almost half price elsewhere and you don’t need the hassle should anything go wrong.
I wonder how they are an ward-winning opticians when they treat their costumers so poorly and would be interesting to know based on what they got this recognition.
Avoid at all costs.

i went to choose some frames with my friend (she was very picky) they had special offers and deals going on and were not pushy. Very helpful and friendly with massive selection of designer frames - not good if you are on a budget
