Barenhohle

Got this teddybear from your childhood years you don't know what to do with? Bring it to Barenhohle ( = bear cave) where they will be happy to adopt it.. they have about hundreds hanging from the ceiling, clinging to the walls... but there are more bears. Human bears, big, furry guys.

The place is a must of the Gran Canaria bear scene and definitely a good point to start your night, where others, i.e., leather guys, are more than welcome. The tables al fresco are a great oportunity to have just an innocent drink while digesting your (certainly copious) dinner while (not that innocently) watching the guys around you are likely to find after in the other gay bars of the Yumbo Center.

Don't be afraid of the price, drinks are pretty unexpensive.

Update 20.10.09 = As of today they have exactly 1077 teddy-bears.

Definitions:

Bear (n): A gay gentleman of a certain age/circumference/degree of hirsuteness, with a penchant for leather, denim and combat gear.

Cub (n): A younger gentleman with similar proclivities.

Well, if you are either of the above, then the Barenhohle Bar in the Yumbo Centrum of Playa del Ingles is YOUR kind of place! This intimate bar (the interior ceiling is bedecked with literal thousands of teddy bears, the exterior, naturlich, alfresco!) is the hangout for the bear population of the resort, and it’s a very friendly, pally and straight-friendly bar, where the order of the day is socialising, chatting and swopping tales of the day’s exploits. Mein hosts Paul and Gunther are both charming, and the beer is reasonably priced and icy cold to refresh the palate after a long, hot, dry Canarian day. The guys will also knock you up a cocktail if you are more into that, but it might add a few raised eyebrows among the daddy-bears!
