Lucky Star - the most simple and successful business plan in Hamburg, if not the World. Make a gimmicky disgusting 50c shot that tastes more like dolmio than a drink, and watch the punters FLOCK IN. As they do. And Lucky Star is teeny tiny and stupidly shaped so even the back, where there actually is a bit of room, is literally unreachable. Sometimes I think it might be a mirage.
Susana Cristalli God, that's exactly how it tastes like. Bad, garlicky supermarket sauce, only with alcohol. Lovely breath.

A place you can't avoid if you live in hamburg.
Mexikaner for 50cent are not mine, but i had to drink i guess 10 of them.
Simple and not much designed bar. You won't spent much time here but most people just come for a few mexikaner anyway. Don't expect more then cheap shots.
Very inexpensive, good spot to stop through but not really a place to hang out in. Not much seating so you own't get too comfortable. This is your ideal shot slamming bar.
the mexicana shots were good, not sure what they are. but sure is a great place to get the party started.
It seems a common theme here to dash in, grab a memory-reducing Mexicana shot (basically a hefty bloody mary in a tot glass) and keep trekking to the next space. So not to snub the tradition I followed suit so all I really have in terms of experience here is a salty, spicy taste, a blur of people dancing around in a packed room and some brightly coloured lights. But with a sense of 'ooh this is fun' which is a good thing and so worth a review I imagine. If you're on the Hamburger Berg this is a compulsary stop, even if, like me, you don't do Bloody Mary's.
Someone pushed me in there, I grabbed a shot of something I though would taste like strawberries but was a very spicy tomato and vodka mix instead, had a second one and was pulled away.
Five stars.
Don't go expecting anything fancy... In fact don't go expecting more than a barn with a lot of drunk people in it drinking weird tomato-juice-based shots and then falling over.
You know the huge tomato fights they have in Spain once a year? Imagine that with a lot of booze thrown in ... in a glass. That's what you get at the Lucky Star, and they cost the equivalent of about 50p.
Classy it isn't, fun it most definitely is.
brighters Barn, very true. Not heard it described like that before! The bizarre place that is the reeperbahn summed up in one barn.

Walk in and out for a round of Mexicana shots... that's about I can recall about this joint :)
I'm sure I'm a fan either- hot hot hot is not the best response when trying to combine all forms of alcohol into one drunken experience.
Only 1 reason to go to this bar - Mexicana shots! Be careful though - you might wake up the next morning with no memory what happened last night
If we're on a big night out down Hamburger Berg then there's an almost 100% chance we'll make a stop, or two, at Lucky Star. There is but one reason for this fact: €0.50 shots.
Yes, €10 can buy you a tray of 20(!) shots.
Ask for Mexicana, it's the local speciality.
Dirty little bar off the Reeperbahn. Smokey, cheap cheap shots. Brilliant.
I was up for getting drunk and I got led here. I got drunk. Very drunk. So I cant give much detail on this place…but I do remember having some crazy shot that people apparently only drink in Hamburg. I was expecting pure rankness but it was okay (not that I’d fancy drinking it all night).
I want to come back - so it must be good!
JasmineClara I dont remember if I thanked you the next day because I might have been a bit too hungover to remember any manners…but thank you for a great night out :)

Very cheap shots! This place is a decent bar to get drunk, but not a decent bar to drink in. So, make your choice!
Home of the famous 50cent Mexicana shot - a shot made from tabasco sauce mixed with vodka and tequila! And they have one of those cool electronic dart boards. Not busy (dead) on a Tuesday night at 2000 - but open none the less! We stayed for 5 minutes… apparently, I have been here before…
This is alcoholics academy at its finest. 90cent shots of Tequila
for the guys. Little colorful tasty shots for the ladies. Its a wonderful appetizer to a great night. Stop there early before it gets packed. Slap 5euro on the counter and fall out into the street. You should always have at least 10 shots before you leave or your doing a great injustice to the legend that is Lucky Star. If you don’t have a strong stomach stay away from the mexicaner, you might not get that wasted but I’ve seen many people just vomit the tomato and Tabasco sauce mixer before even getting drunk. You can have fun there just by seeing how many shots you can drink. Its a good feeling to come home saying you drank 25 shots and you mean it literally. If you come to visit Hamburg and you find nothing to do in the mid afternoon
and you wanna get a quick drink stop there first. Cause its open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
aLii lol. I’ve done the “€15 for a load of mexicaner shots thing.” One guy was sick through his nose! Personally I really like the stuff :)

I am that one who found the mexicana alittle too much. i mean seriously, who want to drink tomatoes juice, tabsco sauce and vodka in a shot. Any, i think i saw all of about 10 ft of this place before i decided the outside was more suited to me. My review of the pavement just outside is: very nice, lots of crowds drinking and singing, somewhat like in england, but your not likley to get punched for wearing the wrong football shirt.
Very little memory of this place. We had a mexicana shot in here which came as a pretty big surprise to one of our group! The crowds tend to spill out onto the streets and it's not unusual to see shot guzzling on car bonnets outside of the bar. Definitely worth checking out if you are on the raz in St. Pauli!
