Butterfly Fabrics, Cardiff

I have to agree with Poppycat – This shop is amazing. The wonderful range of fabrics is second to none and I have been to many a fabric shop around the country. On City Road you also have Terrys, however the prices at Butterfly are by far the lowest (in some cases up to £3 a metre for the same fabric). In fact they have a pricing comparison database highlighting all the savings on the same fabrics against the competition.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, passionate and enthusiastic – quite refreshing in fact. Even if Butterfly Fabrics was the most expensive I would choose them anyway due to the fabulous customer service given. All of my friends and the other customers I chat to in the shop feel the same.

I absolutely love this shop! Fabric shops are rare these days, so to find one with such a wide variety of fabrics is a real treat.

The shop is lovely and spacious, with plenty of room to slide a bolt of fabric out and look at it properly. I also love the big table at the centre of the shop which holds all the pattern books. Its so nice to be able to sit down and browse through all the patterns.

Their prices are really good too. I recently went there to buy fabric to make my daughter’s prom dress (ok, she’s only 11 and it’s all a bit silly but what can you do?). The whole lot, including fabric, lining, thread, zips, sequinned netting AND the pattern came to less than £25!
