Stayed here summer ’11.
It was clean and had a good shower which is sometimes all you need.
Hostel had a nice little bar and was it was an enjoyable walk from the city centre.

The rooms at the Alex 30 Hostel are artistically inspired and very clean.

The kitchen is big and fully equipped and at the bar you can meet other travelers for a chat.
In summer you should visit the hostel’s beer garden. Typical for South Germany the garden provides a relaxed atmosphere for those who would like a break or a beer in the evening. This hostel in Stuttgart is centrally located in the city center. The underground station is just around the corner and the beautiful palace garden only a few minutes away. From Alex 30 Hostel you can easily start your discovery journeys to the Mercedes Benz Museum, the Porsche Museum, the opera, various theatres and of course to the famous “Schwarzwald”. If you have any questions the friendly staff will be very pleased to help you.

The Alex 30 made a positive impression on me. I didn't stay there myself but a good friend of mine did. The main criticism, like the previous commentator said, is the quite long extra price list. The shared rooms from 22.- however are top. Clean, tidy and pleasantly furnished. There are a few hotels which are a lot worse. Also the terrace with their seats and loungers as well as the murals is very attractive. You won't need 3min to Stuttgart's city centre by SSB. Overall it's a type of accommodation (if man/woman doesn't mind sharing bedrooms) which I can recommend without doubt.
