HMV in Leeds is a large store on two levels. Though historically it is as music shop it actually sells far more DVDs and computer games than it does music, that’s not to say it doesn’t have a good choice. The computer games and CDs are actually rather over priced and you can find most things at least a third if not 50% cheaper online (for example I bought Katherine Jenkins sacred arias as a gift for £7 at Play.com whereas it was £14 in HMV and the box was battered and scratched). But the DVDs are well priced as are the books and for these reasons I visit regularly especially looking for gifts. It’s the best DVD shop in Leeds if nothing else.
The premier music and video shop in Leeds has it has been for many years. Always has a massive selection of music videos and games, and now with the internet I have found that these stores are just as good. Its is a lot more fun browsing in a record store than seaching the internet, there is always a chance of finding something intriguing, or something you havent heard before.
The store is situated over 2 levels in the old Schfields Centre, and much to my wifes disappointment I can spend hours in there.
I find the staff very helpful and quite knowledgable, if you are looking for something a bit more obscure.
My number 1 record store.
Everything you would expect from an HMV store really. The Leeds store is very well stocked with informed and helpful staff, and a great range of DVDs particularly. Its convenient to get to and pleasant to go round. Recommended.
This is a good HMV mainly due to it’s size and the huge range of music, movies and games. If you need a CD or DVD straight away then this is probably the first place to look as the store has row upon row of CDs and DVDs. Saying that the store is not overcrowded with stock and there still plenty of room to browse. The gaming section has become more extensive and can match most of the gaming outlets on the high street. The prices are good for the high street but often items can be bought online for less. The HMV sales are usually great and you can pick up a bargain. It’s a good place to shop but the prices can not always match the online prices.
With some really good deals to look out for, this city centre HMV store is easily accessible and is well laid out too. The staff are helpful, and there’s discount for students which is a bonus. Quite a large store, finding what you require is quite a simple task!
As large and corporate music stores go this is actually pretty good. It’s well set out and has many nicely price bits and bobs. I always used to prefer shopping at Virgin (I used to work at a Virgin store in Oxford Street many moons ago) but they steadily went downhill and HMV grew in confidence and appeal.
The DVD section upstairs is comprehensive and well laid out so yoyur faviourite genre can be found quite quickly. But check out some of the displays on the ground floor as you can find loads of cheapies near the door (CD’s too). There’s a huge music section as well as games and books (quite a few book bargains here too).
