Its a bit of a drive out of the centre, parking can be a little tricky, but once in is a great cinema experience.
Ace cinema but nightmare parking. Choose somewhere else if convenience is an important factor for you.

Whilst the Vue at Clifton Moor has a number of good features - such as ample parking and a good variety of films on offer - it is sadly a reasonably poor venue in terms of picture and sound quality.
Having been there numerous times, more often than not I've experienced some form of problem. These can range from something very simple, such as the volume being turned too loud creating distortion, to something more serious such as poor audio/video sync - it is particularly distracting to have speech not matching the lip movements on screen, in the vain of bad dubbing. On a number of occasions, in a particular screen, there has been no left channel or rear channel sound at all, with all the audio eminating from the front right.
Considering that a large multiplex is meant to create an outstanding cinema experience, I'd advise you to stay away if any of the aforementioned problems bother you. Having said that, I've not had problems every time (and certainly other reviews here are generally positive)... but the experience is just too variable for me to write a good review. That, and the popcorn is extortinate... but that's to be expected!

Very similar to all other multiplexes, tickets are a bit over priced and the refreshments are extortionate.
Although there is a large carpark it can be tricky to find a space when a big blockbuster is released.
The seating needs updating as the last time I visited (18/07/09) my seat was threadbare and the foam was showing through.
However I still travel 40 miles to this cinema as it is miles better than my local flea pit.

This is an excellent multi Screen cinema on Clifton Moor. they always show the most recent and up to date films. they also do the “orange Wednesdays” so you can save a few pennies there. Its a really clean and modern cinema. Recomended.

One of the few remaining cinema left in York now apart from the City Screen. There are loads of screen here so there are always loads of films on at a selection of times. The prices are reasonable also if you go earlier on in the day and avoid the weekends. It is even cheaper if you get orange wednesday or you have a student card. Food is expencive as with most cinemas.

Vue Cinema on Clifton Moor is one of those out of town complexes that offer free parking and and a whole range of films. I wanted to mention the cinema because of two main features that not all cinemas have. firstly the senior showing on a Wednesday at 1pm for only £3 and that’s with a cup of tea as well! But more importantly for our family, and we love the cinema, is the Saturday cinema Club. Every week you can choose from 2 film on both the Saturday and Sunday and you only pay £1.75 for the child and the adult go’s free! And even better than that the films are changed each week and only take about 6 to 8 weeks for the major children’s films to hit Saturday cinema! So for the likes of Wall-E, Igor, Inkheart etc we just wait a few weeks and see them at hugely knocked down prices that enable us to add the popcorn with out worrying about the price…

Lets face it most cinemas are pretty much like any other, particularly these huge multi screened places such as Vue at Clifton Moor.
But there are advantages to multi screen cinemas, firstly, when a new film comes out that’s highly in demand, they show it numerous screens - this means you’re more likely going to be able to book seats and not wait for days/weeks for the film you want to see to have available seats. And secondly, the list of films to see is nice and varied!
One of my favourite things about Vue is walking into the building, which is huge! and always smells of warm popcorn! you really feel like your having a 'treat’ coming here and if you visit the food counter then you can get another treat! (you like what I did there).
More recently I have discovered the Saturday morning kids club where you can bring your kiddies to the cinema to watch a film - all for less than 2 pounds! you don’t have to worry about the kids making a noise during the films, but frankly it’s expected. Saturday morning cinema trips have become a firm favourite in our house

Clifton Moor Vue is a great place for a Saturday night, but not too different from most other Vues. The staff, on average are very friendly and answer questions well (I tend to kill time asking questions just to see how people answer them). I once had to complain about noisy teenagers disrupting the film, and they were removed very quickly, to applause from other cinema goers. That’s good cinema!

This cinema is one of the best I have been to. The staff are always friendly and happy to help. The floor, unlike some cinemas I have been to in the past, isn’t sticky which makes a pleasant change. There is ample parking – although I would suggest parking nearer to the exit than to the cinema as it can be a bit mad when you try to leave. The prices are very competitive and they have discounts for the older person as well as students (on production of a valid uni ID card, not an NUS card), The sound systems are great and really enhance the cinema experience. The screens are big, but not so big that you can’t take everything in. Their advertising is good, so are the toilets and they have a small arcade area which has a selection of games to entertain you while you wait for your film to begin.

Joff, 18 February 2011:
Vue is massive and located at Clifton Moor near York. There is a lot of screens so they are able to show every major film thats released and the food and facilities of the cinema are great.
Prices are as expected (expensive!), they do accept the Orange Wednesday offer of 2 for 1 however the cinema gets very very busy at these times.
All in all a good if a little pricey afternoon out and best of all Frankie and Bennys is next door for a burger after the film!
