This place was a home away from home when I was in Sydney. Brew their own beer, which is British style. A month in Aus made me appreciate British beer so this place was a God send. Pretty decent grub if I remember right.

Had a lovely stay here a few years ago. The room was pleasant enough and the pub on the ground floor has a great character as it serves up it own-brewed selection of ales, breakfast was also fab. It’s great being able to sample this smorgasbord of booze and then be able to saunter upstairs to your awaiting bed without the usual drunken stumble through the streets. This place is also in a great area as it’s only a five minute walk from The Rocks. There’s also a Chinese Laundry opposite.

Review of The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel from 8 November 2008

The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel holds the title of Sydney’s oldest remaining hotel, which for foreigners is slightly less impressive as it was established in 1836.
It is a quaint, spacious colonial styled hotel, its sparrow picked sandstone walls sealing the vibe, as they were hand carved by convicts.
A collection of locals and tourist congregate here for a bit of Australian history and a good pub meal each day, so arrive early if you want a street seat in the warm sunshine in summer.
We stayed here for a night and found the hotel rooms to be clean and well facilitated, but without a tv, however if you are in the Rocks area you shouldn’t really be inside anyway! The deal was sealed with a ample continental breakfast served in the light and airy dining area upstairs of the bar.
