The Imperial

Went to The Imperial this afternoon for something to eat with my partner. When we arrived, we were told that half the beers were not available and they were unwilling to substitute for another as part of their meal and drink package.

We were served by the manager, Ellie who’s attitude stunk to high heaven. When the food eventually arrived, it was cold. I went to see her and she got it ‘reheated for us’. When it arrived back, it was still cold.

Not once did we recieve an apology – she didn’t seem to have any people skills whatsoever, something which you would think the representitive of a major chain would have – especially at manager level.

On top of this, the card machine wasn’t working and we were told that the order would be put through whilst my partner went to the cash machine. 15 minutes later, we discovered that it hadn’t been.

All in all, I am very dissapointed with this venue, and we will not be visiting again.

Avoid like the plague!

Now a weatherspoons so cheap booze on offer. Lovely building to enjoy a drink in. The breakfast we had was lovely too!

TRied it on a Saturday lunchtime, quite good, inasmuch as the range of ales, and the taste, was excellent. Seems to be popular with shoppers, as coffee seemd to be the most 'in’ drink.

The Imperial is ok-ish, but has absolutely no selling points since they got rid of the massive dinosaur in the middle of the room! That was its only point of interest. Now it’s yet another run-of-the-mill clone pub that sells the same reheated frozen scampi and nachos as every other boring clone pub. Inexplicably busy at weekends, but then most pubs in Walsall tend to be (we need to get drunk here, I think!). Have had problems in the past with stroppy staff and random nazi skinheads in here, so I wouldn’t recommend it.

Another great Wetherspoons conversion. Good choice of ales and good value food menu. But this place gets so busy on weekend nights - very difficult to get served. Worth visiting at other times though. Also gets busy at lunchtimes with people who shop or work in wallsall. A good pub.
