Really unimpressed. I ordered well before closing time but got a call from their driver to say it was too far to come. We're in the "catchment area" and the order was accepted by the manager when I called. Thoroughly unacceptable service and I won't be trying again.

Not bad pizzas, average prices and now they have this monday deal - 1/2 metre pizza is at price for 13" so you can save 7 gbp which is really neat.

I am sad to say but I have to leave a negative feedback.  The first time around the delivery took 2 and 1/2 hours, the second time around the delivery was on time, but they sent two pizzas as one 1/2 metre one (which costs less than the two pizzas combined).  Never again

Review of Venezia from 5 April 2011

We ordered a takeway from here last weekend. The expected delivery time came up to 1,5 hours (after payment, of course). Venezia is about 10 mins away from our place. When we tried to cancel with justeat the lady contacted them and brought the delivery time down to an hour. They were 20 mins late still.
The pizza was cold and hard and it wasn't sliced. The description of what we ordered was this: 'Mozzarella, organic baby potatoes, red onions, rosemary, dolcelate cheese & smoked pancetta' The 'organic baby potatoes' turned out to be pieces of mass produced french fries (no joke) scattered accross the top of the pizza after baking. No rosemary whatsoever. The pancetta had several pieces of cartlidge in it. The banoffee pie was the worst I ever had, it was clearly not fresh and instead of caramel it had custard (!) which made it sickly sweet, not mentioning that it's not proper. All this for quite a lot of money. Utterly disappointed.

Just really damned fine pizza. I like Firezza well enough, but Venezia do thinner and crispier bases and equally top-notch fresh ingredients, so they win. Always v friendly too...

Stroud Green Road can you believe it, has 3 great pizza places. This is, or rather I should say, was the best kept secret. 'Wood fired oven’ and 'authentic’ seem to be the two phrases best loved by pizza restaurants. Lord knows, if you don’t have a wood oven you’re no one in this business. Do your pizza by the metre and maybe you have something that others don’t have. Offer parma ham bread, or squash, pesto and cherry tomato bread or goats cheese and aubergine bread as starters and you definitely have one up on the competition in my book. Venezia has it all and more. The variety on their menu is extraordinary, salivating and so very very exciting. Pizza porn. What could be better. I first tried their pizza when searching for an alternative to my beloved Il Bacio who’d deliver to Tufnell Park (just out of reach for Il Bacio who won’t deliver here 'cos the pizza would get cold -respect). Up popped Venezia from a legubrious list of Papa Johns and Dominoes. Keeping it simple we ordered regular garlic bread and a nepolitana. We weren’t hugely impressed by this daliance truth be told. Their magic thermal pizza carry transport bag things seem not to do the job as well as they’d like to claim. But undeterred and naturally adventurous we decided on paying them a visit. Opinion revived by putting a foot in the door and eating in house. This is where their strenghts lie. Great food, great place, lovely staff and now a drinks licence. What more could you want?

What a gem! This incredibly good value Italian pizza place gave us some of the best pizza any of us have ever eaten (and we’ve eaten rather a lot of pizza…). We stayed there for three hours, played cards and had the sort of wonderful, cheap, relaxed evening which isn’t that common when eating out in London on a Friday night.

I was originally looking for a good BYO near Finsbury Park, and was drawn to this place by the astonishingly good reviews (give it a google and see). Although listed as BYO still, they now sell wine (rather nice wine for a tenner actually - some organic stuff which is more interesting than the usual supermarket staples) . I rung them to find out if we could bring some instead, as were on a tight budget. The lovely man on the phone was so charming that by the end I think I’d have gone there no matter what, but we made a deal whereby we bought one bottle at the restaurant and took one with us from home for no corkage charge.

We got there and the place was absolutely empty - there’s a tiny seating area and a Massive wood burning oven - it looked more like a take-away place than a restaurant and we were suddenly unsure. However, we were very early (7ish I think) so we sat down and hoped some more people would come along.

I can’t tell you whether they did or not because we all got far too distracted by the food. We ordered some starters - a goats cheese/aubergine garlic bread and some olives and from that moment on were hooked. They were huge and delicious - piles of excellent, perfectly ripe green olives (far harder to find that you might think - the best places can get olives wrong) and the garlic bread was the size of the largest takeaway pizzas; with tons of good, strong goats cheese and gorgeously charcoaly aubergines.

The mains were equally wonderful - my friend and I shared a half metre of pizza (around £15). You can pick toppings every quarter metre. I’d particularly recommend the simple and glorious buffalo mozzerella and vine tomato. It is honestly the best of its kind that I have ever had - even counting those in Italy!

At the end we had banoffee pies and they gave us some free tiramusu because apparently it was particularly good (it was). What else can I say, really? I have ranted quite enough. Basically - go there. Go there now, at once, before other people find it. Do not pass go and do not collect £200 - there are increasingly few places in London you can get top quality, low prices and a relaxed atmosphere, and this is most definitely one.

This place was wonderful! We arrived at 7.30 on a Friday evening, and spent 3 lovely hours drinking their very cheap but tasty wine, and eating their huge portions of delicious pizzas. I can highly recommend the garlic bread topped with goats cheese and auberine, and their olives, which were definitly enough of a starter for 4 of us. The service was friendly, the atmosphere delightful, and the food fantastic! Cant recommend this restaurant highly enough.

“Finsbury Park?” is the response I inevitably get when I tell someone about the best place to have a pizza in town - better even than Soho’s Spaccanapoli, my previous favourite.

This place also scores highly for wine at £10 per bottle - you can eat like a king (share the risotto, it’s vast) for less than £20 per head inclusive.

Owner and staff are charming and friendly; committed to quality and a nice atmosphere. They deliver as far as the City; you won’t find better quality there so find a park bench if you’re in the square mile and get a delivery to that.

Spaccanapoli is good is it? Passed that loads of times but never been in - right near the office too. Will have to pay it a visit.

Have you been to Franco Manca in Brixton yet - pizzas that will blow your mind!

Wow are we glad that our usual places were busy.
Authentic Tasting Pizza’s. Wood ovens, great tasting and fresh. Just the right base and toppings. More than enough I had the rest this morning for breakfast. Great service and friendly Management and staff. The phones didnt stop ringing the place was buzzing with delivery guys tooing and frowing.
Cool music, relaxed atmosphere, spotlessly clean restaurant and rest rooms.
We would have stayed for longer, we were there over 2 hours but alas they are waiting for the Drinks Licence’.
Definately recommend and we shall be back.

Great to find this place on Qype! Delicious wood fired pizzas (some of the best in London in my book). Nearest tube is Finsbury Park, but if you are travelling by train you can also go to Crouch Hill. Try the Quattro Gusti. Delicious!
