I went to the lanes at the weekend and loved it, me and my friends had a wicked time. Its a really cool venue with a great atmosphere, and the best part is that you can bowl whilst watching the gig and then go have a dance when ur finished. I really like the 50's feel to it as well, makes it different to the regular venues in the centre. I would def go there again :)

Can be a really fun place but the over zealous security guards are really bringing the atmosphere down the pan. They’re acting like they’re in Iraq .. . .real shame and needs addressing. I saw numerous people hassled throughout the night just for looking moderately tired or relaxed. Girlfriends of mine were searched on the door in spite of being sober and smartly dressed whilst drunken teens wobbled on by.. . .crazy stuff
No kids running around, great drinks with a top line of cocktails. Their new French manager is what this place needed.
More a bar than bowl. Glad to see the lanes have stopped putting on rubbish bands are focusing on what they are good at - quality booze, antmosphere, and late night drinking. The Lanes are fast becoming THE after pub venue in Bristol.
Security on door means crowd inside is always right on.

Great bowling on the 6 lanes ideal for groups or parties. some no standard beers (bitterberg) and great home made burgers/pizza. its good bowling experience with no groups of chavy teenagers a la holywood bowl.

The former Job Centre on Nelson Street has been renovated & turned into a quaint 5-lane bowling hall & lounge bar complete with small stage and dancefloor for weekend live bands and dancing.
The boutique theme seems to be around 50’s inspired americana & former bowling lane wood has been used to build many of the fixtures & fittings.
They serve cocktails and some fine import lagers & ciders on tap and by the bottle, although if you prefer the usual 'brewed in UK’ swill that generic pubs & clubs stock you may be disappointed as there are no native lagers to be found.
The crowd seems to be made up of bohemian types & older hipsters/indie kids despite the central location which makes a pleasant change although this may have been due to the night I was attending (Friday night live band evening).
There is a large outdoor smoking area/garden, although when I went there were few undercover areas & no outdoor heaters so take a coat.
I didn’t get a chance to bowl there but I will definitely be going back next time I’m out in town as it holds a lot of charm.
