A chill funky place in the heart of Balham. A place for socialising and satisfying your senses, a destination for stylish laid back crowds.

Lovely place, don’t miss the chance to visit it!
Very nice atmosphere, lovely place with lots of things to do!
Great place with a varied offering: cinema, theatre, comedy, bar and restaurant.
All good and very pleasant evening spent there.
We were allowed to take a pint into the theatre which I appreciated (they give you a plastic glass obviously)
very pleasant place and friendly staff
The place do a good mix of cocktails. A great bar to hang out in!
Great place to catch up with your mates.
Is clean and comfy and the staff is helpful and nice.
Great place to hang out with friends in London. The terrace is really cool!
If you're visiting London and have never been, this is one of the coolest places you will come across. I love the terrace in the cafe. Not a huge theatre fan but the cinema was excellent too.
Saw Frankie Boyle here and Russell Howard.
Very good quality.
And when performers do some warm up gigs, they come here.
Also, a bit of history. T.F.I Friday used to be filmed here.
I remember going to Riverside many years ago... and it was even then it had a special feeling for me. Now visiting it again, it still has something about it that i really like. The terrace is a summertime must, and if you like food, even though it's not chinese(!), its great!
If you like movies and plays, this is one of the best venues in west london. Friendly staff are always important, and this place has this too. Try it, you won't be dissapointed!
As the other reviewers have said, the view of the river from the terrace is one of the best in London, and all the better for being in a quiet residential area, away from all the mad hustle and bustle of the city centre.
Saw a fab production of Macbeth here earlier this year by a theatre company called Love & Madness, who transformed the stage set into an East-End 60s boozer, with members of the audience seated around tables with pints so that the performance was conducted around and in between them and interval drinks served from behind the makeshift bar. Very innovative and original use of a traditional space, and Riverside seem to have something of a reputation for hosting quirky, creative and original performances.
I went as part of a press performance, so can't comment on the prices, but the booze was reasonable and the staff friendly and helpful.
Over the last few years I've got to know Riverside pretty well through appearing on some of the music shows that used to be shot there: CD:UK, Popworld and, more recently, Nokia Green Room, plus the odd industry showcase.
The studios are much smaller than you'd think; I remember the very first time I was on CD:UK I couldn't believe how few people were actually in the audience - when I'd watched at home it had looked like a proper venue full. Nope, all TV trickery I'm afraid! It was very cool standing on stage and looking over to the right where I could see the staircase Chris Evans used to run up and down during TFI Friday though.
One time I managed to be in a dressing room next to The Cardigans and later be dancing in the audience next to Ian Brown - that was a good night. And I'll never forget the womens' screams when I was on stage performing "The Sun Only Shines On TV" with A-Ha - ear piercing!
It's a lovely building, with lots of nice dressing rooms and excellent crews of production staff. On sunny days sitting out on the back patio is brilliant, with gorgeous views of the Putney across the river, but I like the indoor cafe seating too, and the food is always really gorgeous. I keep meaning to go and see a double bill of films at Riverside, as it's one of the few places in London that still does them, I might have to make that a New Year's Resolution.
Cool cinema with a lovely little bar, particularly the bit overlooking the river - although if it’s cold I wouldn’t recommend it.
They have all sorts of double bills here which are good value and some really interesting films.
Just a shame I don’t live West anymore or I’d be here a lot more often
Love this space. You can go to enjoy a film and they will show a classic on early Sunday evening. They have great coffee, food and drinks and what a place to people watch. London needs more places like Riverside Studios and all year round they have great events. AMAZING
fantastic team of people that help me showcase my play in the year 2005. guided me through the whole process, developing the play and performance. defintely recommend to anyone to expand their plawriting portfolio.
Great little cinema that often shows some fantastic double bills, and is pretty reasonably priced for what you get! They tend to show mostly art-house, and some classic films. They do occasionally show some more recent stuff, so check out the listing online! It is certainly worth checking out! They also have a lovely bar with a nice terrace facing the river.
The Riverside is so much more than just a really cool cafe/bar. I wish I had the time to go to the cinema more often - they have a great selection of independent and more mainstream films; I particularly like the double bills.
Went to an excellent live performance at one of the studios yesterday. “Kick-off” is a play about gay footballers - extremely funny despite the serious undertones. All the staff lined up to follow the show, too. Excellent atmosphere, and the party continued in the bar afterwards.
The studios are also host to quite a few TV productions, so definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Cool cafe, wonderful films and theatre. My friend and I go dressed in vintage 1920’s dresses just to watch the double bills and to have some wine.
