Fitness First

I have been a member with FF for about 2-3 years now. I get to do all my exercises and get out as it tends to be overcrowded sometimes. The equipment is good, the changing rooms are usually clean and the staff are friendly and professional.

I think Maria786 is confusing the City Rd branch with the one in Old St - the branch on City Rd is very spacious and clean and I have never had to wait for CV machines.
I used to use the black label gym in London Bridge (FF Cottons), but the City Rd gym is better - doesn't have a pool or give towels, but much bigger feel and I think it has more CV equipment.
I went to the FF gym off Old St and it was totally different - tiny shoebox-type basement, low ceiling, very cramped & hot (on a cross-trainer your head is about 6 inches away from the lighting!). I wouldn't pay for membership if this is what I got.

Fitness first at Old Street Oversuscribed their gym so much in new year that I could not even get a locker and often just went home. To improve matters I took out a so called “Black Label” membership so that I could go to the exclusive club at London Bridge. At London bridge things were better but I still could not get on the equipment that I wanted without a long wait so I took up riding my bike to work and resigned my membership. Subsequently they debited my card without my permision. So the lessons are (1) don’t go there in the first place and (2) when you resign your memership; cancel the card that you signed up with because you are dealing with a bunch of crooks.

I went to this place during lunch times, its nicely made, the ladies changing rooms are nice and modern, with clean showers. Also with a private door in the womens changing rooms leading towards the sauna. However it was always very busy and there is not that big for working out, its very compact. Youd be lucky to get a treadmil, you may find one or two cross trainers free but all the equipment usually gets taken up by the rush of people. ALso with the ceilings low it gets very hot in there and when your running on the treadmill your head is so near the lights and thats what makes you hotter.
