We visited this restaurant today with family after a lovely visit to Hampton Court.
The first thing we were told (when I booked the table) was that prams should be left outside, which striked me as weird, but I did not give any more thought on it, thinking that it is just a matter of space.
Our baby son (21 months old) was initially a bit stressed as the food took ages to arrive. When the food was finally there, the manager out of the blue came to tell us that we should do something about our child screaming, which was not and that we should find a way to make it stop because two tables on the other side of the restaurant (but not any next to us!!) had complained! He even took the opportunity to patronize us, as he said that he has a son as well and that he would take the child outside if he were in our position!
After explaining to him that the comment was rude and that no one can expect a 21 month old baby to understand that, he said that it is unacceptable for the people that come to eat and drink (as if we went there for other reasons) to have to hear a baby screaming and essentially he was telling us to leave!
It is the first time in the UK that we faced such a RACIST behaviour against babies!
People with such a demeanour should not be allowed client facing positions!
To cut the story short we asked for the bill and left!
We told the manager that we would write a negative review and to be even more irritating he gave us his card with his name to use!
So to name and shame the name is Sal Morgan
This Blubeckers is conveniently located across the road from Hampton Court. The Blubeckers menu is actually really good and even though I knew I was going for their Ribs I was already thinking that another visit (or two) would be required to try some of the other tempting delicious - good stodgy stuff. However after tasting the Ribs I doubt I could really go past them! The Ribs were as good as Sandra made them out to be - tender (so tender you could literally push it off the bone - we could have eaten with spoons!), juicy, and dripping in a very tasty BBQ sauce. So well done to Sandra! The ribs weren’t the only great thing - the calamari starter was perfectly cooked and served with the most amazing aioli and the dessert - I don’t know how we fit in those gigantic servings but oh boy it was good and sooo rich. The only slight negative, and I’m not sure this is something that happens often, was that the food was quite slow to come out. On the plus side the extra time probably allowed our food to settle so we could fit more in. Ha ha.
Its just a shame that there is no Blubeckers in London. Or maybe it’s a good thing otherwise I think I would start to grow a little curly tail …
