Had my first shake away a couple of weeks ago and was amazed to see all the sweets behind the counter are all milkshake parts.

I had a Terry's chocolate orange milkshake and although it was very sickly it was pretty much a spot on match for the real thing. Not surprising as it had half a real chocolate orange in it!

This place is great.

It was the second branch of this chain to open, after the original branch in Bournemouth.

It is worth the wait in the short queue for a milkshake from here - whilst in the queue you can ponder which of the 100 or so flavours you want to try. These range from different chocolate products to fruit and random things like muffin.

They are good at catering for allergies with soya milk etc.

I always like to have a look at what else they have, they were the first place I managed to buy Hershey bars in the UK.

The original and the best

Aaaaaamazing!!! I absolutely love this place!! I highley recommend having a 'Dave’!!!

There are now 3 milkshake shops in Southampton centre but the original is still the best and this is shown by the massive queues that appear at weekends and afternoons. If you go in pick up a loyalty card and show some student id if you have it, my favourite is fruit salad bar with mini marshmallow topping. Keep an eye on your waist line and purse you’ll find one gets bigger as the other empties!

Has great shakes you get get absolutely anything you want.

The milkshakes are fairly expensive. Students get a discount. The menu is great, they have so many choices of chocolates, sweets or some vegetables. They have some unusual flavours e.g. cucumber. You can choose a flavour or one of their mixes of flavours and add a topping. They sell a few snacks as well but these are very expensive. You can pick up a card which you get stamped everytime you buy a milkshake and after you have bought ten you get one free. If you sign up to their mailing list then you might get sent vouchers for a bit of money off.

Only 2 problems with this shop – 1 – your waste line will expand 20 times and 2 – it’s in the Bargate so not really in the heart of town. Saying that – it’s just delicious! It was a real novelty when it came to Southampton and I’m glad to say (unlike a lot of the shops in the Bargate) it has stayed in business! On the last visit they were advertising Mince Pie Rum Truffles and Chocolate Log. Hilarious! Also in December they are doing some sort of advent calendar with special offers so lots to get you in the festive spirit. It’s on the main floor in the Bargate on the left. Not the biggest of shops so expect to walk and drink if it’s busy!

Shakeaway is amazing and was the first of its kind when it came to Southampton.

It is a milkshake shops with hundreds and hundreds of combinations of milkshakes ranging from Cherry Bakewell to Trebor extra strong mints!

It is quite a small shop which often gets very buzy especially after school and at weekends with lots of teenagers spending thier pocket money!

They have a list of all the different flavours they do on a flyer on the counter as well as a huge list on the wall behind the counter. You can also suggest flavour combinations such as butterscotch and banana or chocolate peanut butter.

Favourites in our house are

Chocolate Peanutbutter
Farleys Rusk
Fudge and butterscotch
strawberry cheesecake.

The ingredients are the real items listed so strawberry cheesecake is an actual strawberry cheesecake.

They also have a loyaly card which you can get stamps on each time you buy and build up to a free milkshake.

I love the concept of this store, there are so many flavours and I like the fact you can choose whatever you want. The staff work hard and were very friendly, they seemed to have making milkshakes off to a fine art. The que was quite big when I went in but it soon went down due to the staff being efficient. I also like the fact you can see them make the shakes in front of you so you knw they are fresh and nothing ‘dodgy’ has been added! I also like the option of adding things like wheatgerm in them so great for the healthy people. Great choice and well made yummy shakes, what more could you ask for?

Amazing choice of milkshakes - you can have smarties, sherbet, oreo, raspberry and goodness knows how many other flavours. They actually make it in front of you, using real ice cream and you can spend ages deciding what to have. Be careful what you choose! Personally I try to go for something that I know isn’t going to be too sweet.

Main disadvantage, depending on when you go, is the queues of students meaning that you can be waiting for up to 10 minutes easily. Are fairly pricey too, but personally I think it’s worth it.

The milkshakes are very nice ranging from all sorts of products and also you can have topping too. The downside of the products is that its quite pricey and sometimes the milkshakes can be abit watery because they add too much milk and not enough icecream. The wait time is roughly 5 -10 mins depending on the time of the day.
