Not a lot more to say, other than repeating what has been said before. Cracking food, top notch service and not hard on the pocket. If I could give it 6 stars, I would!

**Review Update*

Went here last night and once again had a cracking meal. The owners daughter was serving us and it was probably some of the best service i have had in Hamburg. Pepper steak was excellent and the red wine went down a treat. Schlaterborse remains expensive (about 50 euros per head) but it’s definitely worth it.

I really don’t feel like i need to write a lengthy review here. This place is great. VERY friendly waitress, delicious cuts of meat, great atmosphere and an excellent selection of beers and wines. The pepper steak was heavenly.

REVIEW IN ONE LINE: Probably the best steak you will ever eat.

I've eaten steak at Gaucho Grill, I've had some good eating in Toulouse, and at the top of the John Hancock tower in Chicago. The steak at Petersham Nurseries is to die for. But I don't think I've ever eaten steak quite as good as this.

I knew it was a great restaurant when I set foot inside. It's delightfully styled, with all sorts of interesting trinkets and pictures adorning the walls. Celebrities from far and wide have tucked into some real meat here - Woody Allen, David Hasselhoff... big names.

Anyway - I ordered the pepper fillet, medium rare. The sides are included and you share them. This is real melt in the mouth stuff - swimming in blood but somehow not at all cold in the centre, and incredibly thick. I've no idea how to cook steak like this, but I'd love to watch them... a must try in Hamburg!

One tip for when you visit: spend the extra €6 and go for the fillet steak rather than the rump, or you'll regret it when your friends food arrives!

A rump steak will set you back €23.50 and fillet is €29 or so, but beer is priced reasonably (€2.50 for 0.5L of Erdinger). The steaks are amazing though and it's well worth coming for the atmosphere alone really. The place is quite large, but each individual room is pretty small and so there is definitely a cosy feel.

Steaks all come with mushrooms & spinach and supposedly a choice between fried potatoes, fries & jacket potatoes, but we didn't seem to be offered the choice. Thankfully they brought the fried potato option, which is what we all wanted anyway.

One last thing worth mentioning is that you really have to reserve a table, so as not to face disappointment when you find out that they're full.

Overall I'd say it's a little pricey, but definitely worth it for special occassions.
