Prices have been increased. But certain items are terrific value.
Overall the weekly shop here is half the price of Tesco.
If you’ve not been to Lidl before, it’s worth a visit! They stock a huge range of food - both branded and unbranded - at pretty good prices. You can get all your “store cupboard” stuff, like beans, pasta etc for great prices.
They also choose a theme each week or so, and offer products based on that - it might be fishing, car equipment, cooking, clothing etc and it’s always well discounted.
If you’re willing to try some different bits, then you can get some alternatives to your usual branded products at a fraction of the price. For example, they do a version of laughing cow cheese much cheaper.
Couple of downsides in the Exeter store - they rush you through at the tills and don’t help you to pack. There is hardly any space for your shopping when it has been scanned so you have to be quick to get it into bags! Take your own bags as otherwise you either have to find a box to put everything in, or buy bags there. Also, the staff are friendly, but customer service isn’t great and they always chat over the top of you and have “in-jokes” all the time.
There is a nice big FREE car park there though, and definitely worth a visit. Don’t forget a £1 for the trolley!
