I go here lots as I work just next door. Apart from the convenient location, I don’t think there’s much to recommend the Far Side.
They do lunches - a main meal and drink for about £7. The menu is tempting and the portions large, but I’ve often been disappointed by the food when it arrives, it’s nothing special.
The walled garden out he back looks tempting for summer evenings, but there’s often a horrible smell. I don’t know if it’s the drains, or a chemical they use to clean the drains, or a combination of the two, but it’s quite off-putting.
The Far Side is spacious and you can always get a seat, and no doubt I will continue to be a regular as it’s just so tempting to stop off for a pint or two after work. But for lunch, there are many better and cheaper options nearby (eg The Madeira cafe a few doors away), and for a drink there are many, many more interesting options just five minutes away in Brixton.

Friendly staff, a nice atmosphere, affordable drinks and good food…what more could you ask for really?
I’ve been here quite a few times for lunch, where you can get a meal and a drink for about £7. Considering the quality of the food, this is very good. Chips are obviously freshly cut and fried, the burgers are great and they also do a decent Sunday roast. It’s a small menu on offer, but what’s on there is done well for the price.
It’s often unusually quiet, despite the location on the busy road from Brixton to Stockwell. I’m not sure why this is, but I’m happy for it to remain a well-kept secret if it means I get a good seat every time I visit. In Summer, the garden out the back is a nice place to sit and waste a Sunday afternoon, but in Winter, you’ll find me on the sofas!

This is another Brixton favourite of mine. Its out the way of the main Brixton drag and because of this is always a welcoming break from the high street chaos. You can always find a comfy spot on one of the sofas or in the lovely spacious garden at the back. It is really cosy on a winter evening as it has nice warm lighting and fairy lights around the windows. The staff are really friendly and it is easy to reach from both Brixton and Stockwell tubes. They serve good pub food and I find it to be a good realiable place to frequent. Its worth a trip off the high street and is a good pre-academy pub as it is only about 3-4 minutes walk from there.
