Review of Inn At Whitewell from 10 July 2010

We stayed at this Inn, as we were visitng family close-by (not too close mind you, there really is nothing in Whitewell, except a church, and well this place!).

I think there are 20+ rooms here and the bedroom pleasant, with modern but traditional furnishings. A old-fashioned dial telephone, and bookshelf of authentic old books sat alongside my bose radio.

Anyway the views from the outside patio and restaurant are breathtaking, especially at sunset, overlooking the river Hodder and hills of farmland. I think you can fish here for a small fee if staying in the hotel.

We ate in the restaurant and the food was great, I had chicken pate, followed by melt in your mouth fillet of beef. There is a wide range of drinks on offer, and the shop Vintners sells plenty of wine, alongside Molton Brown products, which are also used in the rooms.

Lovely little place, worth the trek.

Excellent setting for this pub, inn, restaurant, wedding venue or whatever it chooses to be to be quite honest. A huge building situated in one of the most picturesque parts of the surrounding area. Recommended beers, ales and great food!

Inn at Whitewell is situated on the River Hodder. It offers seven miles of salmon, trout and sea trout fishing and 6 acres of views down the valley. It is astonishing.
The wine list is exceptionally good as is the food quality and the staff are very friendly and courtious.

This is a true English country inn and has traditional accommodation to a very high standard. I have stayed in the coach house and it has an original Victorian Shower and bath which are just beautiful.
The food is an excellent standard and this is a very popular place to eat for 'ladies who lunch’, though it is a casual place with stone floors and open fires. Many sports cars and expensive 4×4’s are often parked outside and many people inside are wearing their designer wellies!!
there are nice walks in the area and visiting here can make a great day out.
walk down to the river and walk accross the stepping stones.

Great authentic country Inn,in stunning countryside. Outstanding food in a rustic setting. The fish pie is a signature dish and to be reccommended. The chapel next door makes it a popular wedding venue in summer. The rooms are very difficult to get, as they are booked months in advance.
