Ladbroke Grove is not an area greatly served by supermarkets, Sainsbury’s is pretty much it. Luckily, everything you need that you can’t get in other local shops is available here in this branch located at the top of Ladbroke Grove, just before the canal.
There is a good deli and fresh meat and fish counter at the back, and staff are happy to give advice on what to choose to go with what recipe. There is a wide range of fresh fruit and veg. There are also a lot of specialty foods, especially Asian and Caribbean, reflecting the multicultural area this store is located in.
There is plenty of parking, and lots of buses also travel here from all over the borough!
This branch of Sainsbury’s is served by a large number of busses and has quite a large catchment area. I tend to go late at night, buy as much as possible to then justify a taxi back home.
They also made a special deal with whoever is responsible for the Congestion Charge. Strictly speaking, the store is within the zone, but can be reached from the North without having to pay the charge.
The minicab office is reliable and operates until 10pm during the week.
Not much else to say about a supermarket; it’s big and bright and sells mainly food. I don’t think it’s particularly cheap - unless you count the special offers (which are often sold out by the time I make it there).
There’s a good range of stock at the store, with helpful staff and the usually Sainsbury’s prices (cheap!) Unfortunatley it can be difficult to get to if going by car as it can get very congested in the area. Open 7 till 12 most days, but on Saturday it’s 7 till 10 and on Sundays it’s 11 till 5.
