I started Driving Lessons with Chris Martin, just as I started Uni, so I wasn’t in Sheffield much of the time, and could only have driving lessons in the holidays. Therefore I didn’t have that many, and with Chris I felt I could pick up driving quickly again at the start of each holiday. I would absolutely recommend Chris Martin as your driving instructor.

CHRIS MARTIN ALAN'S SCHOOL OF MOTORING. Thank you Chris for teaching me to drive, you sorted everything out for me. You booked my theory test for me and showed me where to go for it, you booked my driving test for me so I had nothing to sort out. I kept going on about reversing and parking, and you told me forward driving first, you were right. When I'd gained my confidence and got to grips with the controls and things started to come naturally reversing and parking was no problem. Chris taught me that driving was not just about moving the car, its about all the rules, other road users, and looking and thinking ahead. Thank you again I LOVE DRIVING. 

As I am a nervous type and driving was always going to be what I thought would be a struggle, but thanks to Chris Martin for being a top driving instructor and giving me the confidence to pass first time. My worry of reversing and parking was soon sorted after getting to grips firstly with forward driving. I'm now out driving all the time thanks Chris.Sall

VOID AT ALL COST!!!

Taught by Chris Martin from Alan’s Driving School in Sheffield. My girlfriend was learning over 70 hours (over two years) and still haven't being taught parallel parking or emergency stop!

And because he claims that his diary is always full, he only gave one hour per week to my girlfriend even when we requested extra hours numerous time. The worst thing is, the lessons always get cancelled due to numerous excuses with his Mini or maybe he's on holiday etc.

Same as the earlier reviews, the lessons consist of driving home the previous student, driving Chris home to go to the toilet, then driving to pick up the next person.

So if you're taking one hour lessons, you'll probably only be driving for 40 minutes at best including driving the last student home, then you'll be sitting at the cramped backseat for half an hour while the next student drives you home.

I knew we should have stopped earlier but my girlfriend feared change and it dragged on for 2 years until I was absolutely fed up! I called AA driving school and stop taking lessons with Alan's Driving School!

And we glad we did change! The new driving instructor from AA was 10 times more professional and gets straight to the point. And within few hours of practise in parallel parking and emergency stops (which she never been taught), she was ready to book her test!

After leaving Alan's Driving School, my girlfriend recalled that Chris Martin requested her to pay him a practical test fee of £62 but had no receipt from him. So we sent him a couple of messages to firstly say good bye then to see if its refundable. We got no response whatsoever! not even a goodbye!

We've later asked the new driving instructor from AA to found out that you have to personally book the practical test online and she shouldn't have paid the instructor the test fees.

Well, we're glad that we've left Alan’s Driving School, and I personally would not want to see anymore victims....SO PLEASE VOID ALAN'S DRIVING SCHOOL AT ALL COST!!!

Best to use an established driving school like BSM, AA or RED where they have an scheduled learning plan.

After having a number of unsuccessful lessons at other driving schools Chris was really great at restoring my confidence, I passed first time. I would absolutely recommend Chris to anybody who wants to take driving lessons.

Brilliant driving school/ instructor! Very thorough and professional, doesn’t just rush you through like a lot of instructors. A very comprehensive and in depth driving experience. Highly Recommended!!

I disagree with previous negative statements. Chris is a very experienced instructor with the students best interests in mind. If you want you or your child to learn how to drive properly and stay safe and confident then Alans School Of Motoring is where you want to head.

I had a hideous time learning with Chris from Alan’s Driving School. I used to come home after each lesson in tears, he is a bully and it makes me so angry to think that I kept paying him to do that to me. My lessons consisted of driving home the previous student, driving Chris home to go to the toilet, then driving to pick up the next person.
As the comment above says, he used to tell me it would be years before I could pass my test and once made me stop the car to say ‘’Do you even like driving?’ and then the following week told me he was ready to wash his hands of me (Hello?! I was an 18 year old shy girl who was paying him to teach me!).
Needless to say, I did eventually stop having lessons with him and passed first time after a few months with someone else.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Had 25 lessons with Alan and hadnt even began teaching parallel park, turn in the road or reversing around a corner. When asked Alan said that I needed 15 to 20 more lessons before i would be ready for my test. i changed to a new driving instructor who taught me the above moves in a couple of lessons and i had passed my test with 4 hours of tuition.

If you wish not to be ripped off avoid at all costs!

I passed my test 9 years ago with Alan and I have to say he is very good. I swapped through 5 driving schools because I was not happy with service and finally settled with Alan’s and passed! Alan is very friendly, has a great teaching manner and boosts confidence!
