Tesco Metro

This branch of Tesco is located in very close proximity to West Jesmond Metro station. The store is not that large but stocks all the general supermarket foods at prices which are not too high (although they are usually more expensive than larger Tesco stores). The store is in a highly populated student suburb of Newcastle so it can get extremely busy at peak times but there is now a large section of self service tills which can save vast amounts of time. There is also a baked goods section which contains some very cheap breads and cakes however these are usually snapped up very early in the day.

A Metro on the smaller side, it is located in the middle of a student area (lots of student housing for the University of Newcastle around). Hence it is quite busy most of the time. An advantage is that the shop is open fairly late hours. Despite being busy, the shelves are always quickly restocked and you’ll always find what you need.
A lot of emphasis on ready and packaged foods, with occassional offers. A small stall with bakery items, which is great for those mornings when you just want something ready.
Very little variety in terms of frozen foods. Good variety of alcohol including beers, ales and ciders. Caters mostly for student grocery shopping needs.
