Lakings Of Louth

The sandwiches here are to die for. Of course, its not mainly a sandwich shop, but its just the first thing I think of when people say Lakings. They also stock a lovely variety of meats and cheeses and at this time of year, biscuits, jams, honey etc which make lovely gifts or hamper fillers. The prices are very reasonable for the quality. My personal favourite from here was always the duck breasts. However as I mentioned at lunch time they also have a sandwich and hot food area, selling various lunch time favourites. Definitely one of the best butchers in town.

I used to live and work near this traditional old-fashioned butcher’s shop and I was always bowled over by the love people had for the place! It’s clean, light and airy inside and sells a wide range of foods as well as meat - lots of pastries and pies and the popular range of freshly made sandwiches.

We ordered our organic Copas turkey from there last Christmas, which was delicious, and the butcher couldn’t have been more helpful when we made our choice. I also highly recommend a Lakings sausage roll as a hangover cure!
