South Norwood Lake

South Norwood Lake is a very quiet and peaceful place. It is located between South Norwood and  Anerley so there are a lot of restaurants and cafés nearby.
I have lived in London my whole life, but I didn't know about this little find until I moved there with my family. Since that day we always visit the park. It is perfect for lazy afternoons and relaxing picnics and it also offers a lot of entertainment opportunities for the kids. The local sailing club practices there and there are also tennis and basketball courts and if you aren't really into sports you can go fishing, although that's kind of difficult there. You have to find out which kinds of fishes you aren't allowed to fish, but you can still enjoy the lake and it's other inhabitors- the ducks or the swans. You are allowed to feed them so this can be a lot of fun for little kids and personally I think it's also for the grown-ups. I totally recommend visiting if you are in the area.

South Norwood Lake is one of London’s hidden gems. I stumbled upon it one day when walking in the area. It is not really marked on any tourist map and the locals seem to enjoy their lake in the middle of London. It is quite peaceful and relaxing to visit South Norwood Lake. South Norwood Lake is home to the Croydon Sailing Club and you can actually fish on the lake as well but there is quite strict rules as to what you can fish and what not. Lots of families take their kids there to feed the ducks and swanns and some even walk their dog there. I have seen a few people jog around the lake, which seems quite relaxing.

You can get to South Norwood Lake by taking the 468 bus or 196 bus and get off at the stop after Cypress Road and walk down Woodvale Avenue.
