Walkabout Inn

Really not a fan of this place. Situated on the Marketplace, it does get quite busy but I think it is very chavvy. Music is very cheesy and a couple of times that I have been there they’ve held stripping competitions for girls which is just wrong and degrading.

However, being Australian themed, they do have a good selection of Australian beers as well as a bbq in the beer garden at the back. In true Australian style, they do serve kangaroo as well as South African springbok.

Walkabout is located in the centre of Derby, close to the Cathedral Quarter near the other bars in the city.

It is a favourite with students as there are offers and events hosted throughout the year. It has an Australian theme to it and there is a kareoke stage. With one bar, it can be hard to get served at times, but in the summer they open up the back yard (with patio heaters so you don’t freeze!) which has another drinks bar and a unique BBQ which offers burgers and hotdogs.

The only downside to the bar are the bouncers outside who can be very intimidating and rude which spoils the night.
