We all thought very over priced for what you got!!! £5.50 for a bap with the least amount of pork no stuffing didn't see any apple sauce, as only availible if you had the £7.50 bap with salad and roast potates, which we didn't have as we had seen the portions and thought not worth the money. The band playing were a local band and was the reason we stayed. The follow on with the tug of war very good. left fairly early to go home and cook as we were all still very hungry!!!
Its a shame really. This was a golden opportunity for the local pub to shine best way to do this is having plenty of food on one's plate
Went for Mother’s Day. Rather disappointed. Only a glorified carvery but as they don’t have the room to set up as a full blown carvery its just plated up. Both beef & lamb were over cooked, a small bowl of lack lustre steamed vegetable (plain cauliflower, a couple of slices of soggy courguettes, carrot batons & french beans). Just three small roast potatoes on each plate. Puddings nice but expensive & small. OK at a push but just not as good as it was 6-9 months ago.

The Monkton Inn is a great place to eat, offering value for money and quality, which is not often found together!
The food is fantastic with them using fresh, local ingredients.
The chalk board has plenty of starters and main courses with a good range of choice.
The service is friendly and super efficient Oh, and the puddings are so totaly to die for!

I went to the Monkton Inn for the second time in about five years last week. What a difference!! I thought I was in the wrong place! When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff who were welcoming and friendly. The decor is great and I especially liked the jokes on the wall! I instantly felt content as I ordered a delicious glass of cold wine and sat in front of the fire looking at the menu and what a menu. It was lunchtime and for two courses it is £8.50! The dining room was bright and sunny and inviting and the food was absolutely delicious. I cant wait for the summer when I can go there at lunchtime and sit in their lovely garden. In these hard times when pubs are closing by the hundreds, it was great to see someone who completely and utterly understands their customers. Keep up the good work Monkton Inn, I will definately be back! Well done.

Some of the nicest steaks I have ever had. A really good pub for people who love their food. Lovely reception from staff on arrival and super service.

The Monkton Inn has been taken over relatively recently and boy, what a difference! Since going in for a meal in the Spring we have returned time and again. The food is first class using fresh, local ingredients. Everything is made on the premises by Eddie, the owner and chef.
The chalk board has 6 or 7 starters and main courses ie, enough for a good choice but not so many that they can’t perfect them. Each and every one is delicious. The first time we went my husband ordered steak and, when it arrived, he pointed out that he hadn’t be given a steak knife. With a smile he was told that he wouldn’t be needing one and they were right! The meat just melted.
The service is friendly and efficient and you are never made to feel that they want you to hurry up.
Oh, and the puddings are to die for!
